Caseware has launched its Verity-powered Risk Suggestion Agent for auditors worldwide, expanding its use of AI in audit workflows.

The product uses current and prior-year financial information, existing risks, controls, and selected supporting documents to suggest engagement-specific risks for audit teams to review. It is included in existing Caseware Verity licences at no extra charge.

Caseware has also made its Disclosure Checklist Agent available to firms in the UK. The tool was previously limited to US customers using the Dynamic Assurance Solution Suite.

Together, the launches show how software suppliers to the audit profession are trying to reduce the manual work involved in early-stage engagement planning and disclosure review while keeping sign-off with practitioners. Both products operate within the firm's own Caseware environment, and engagement data is not used to train AI models.

Risk assessment

The Risk Suggestion Agent is designed to give auditors a first draft of possible risks tied to a specific engagement, rather than forcing teams to start from scratch. Users can review, edit, or reject the suggestions, and the auditor must deliberately decide before any recommendation is added to the engagement file.

Caseware presented the product as part of a broader effort to automate repetitive tasks across the prepare, plan, evaluate, and report stages of audit and financial reporting work. The launch comes amid a wider race among accounting technology providers to embed AI into core assurance processes while addressing concerns about professional oversight and data handling.

Tricia Katebini, Partner at GRF CPAs & Advisors, described the impact on audit teams in a customer endorsement from Caseware.

"Risk assessment is one of the most important parts of an engagement, and it can also be incredibly time-consuming. Caseware's Risk Suggestion Agent gives our teams a strong starting point, helping us identify and consider relevant risks more efficiently while keeping professional judgment at the center of the process. That time savings allows us to spend more time on the testing, follow-up, and deeper analysis of the risks we identify," said Katebini.

UK expansion

The UK launch of the Disclosure Checklist Agent marks the first time the product has been offered outside the US. Within a Caseware engagement, the software reads financial statements and drafts Yes, No, and N/A responses to disclosure checklist questions, along with supporting reasoning and cited source evidence for auditors to inspect.

It also analyses the financial statements to determine which sections of a checklist are relevant, so teams do not have to work through items that do not apply. Auditors can accept, refine, or override each suggestion, and firms can choose whether to keep the underlying AI reasoning and citations or retain only the approved answers.

Testing showed the tool's run time on a typical disclosure checklist fell from about 18 minutes to around two to three minutes. Manual completion of the same process typically takes several hours, though auditors still review suggested responses before accepting them.

David Marquis, Chief Executive Officer, Caseware, linked the two launches to the company's strategy of placing AI tools directly within existing engagement workflows.

"Today, we are putting the Disclosure Checklist Agent directly into the hands of UK firms and giving global audiences their first look at the Risk Suggestion Agent as we continue to deliver efficiencies by operating Caseware Verity directly in the engagement," said Marquis.

"Caseware Verity sits inside the workflow our customers already trust, saves reviewers real time, and leaves the final judgment exactly where it belongs - with the auditor. We're proud to continue our legacy of innovation by expanding the agentic platform behind that work. CwX London is where we get to celebrate the firms shaping what comes next - and this year, for the first time, that includes the UK edition of our 30 Under 30 Awards."

Wider push

Caseware says it serves more than 23,000 firms in more than 130 countries, giving it a large installed base for new AI-driven audit features. The company is seeking to deepen its position in assurance and financial reporting software as firms face pressure to improve productivity, maintain documentation standards, and manage staffing constraints.

It also announced a UK edition of its 30 Under 30 Awards for emerging accounting professionals. Winners will become part of what Caseware describes as its 30 Under 30 Excellence Network.

"Winners of the UK 30 Under 30 Awards automatically become part of the wider Caseware 30 Under 30 Excellence Network, joining honorees from around the world in an ongoing community for the profession's most promising rising talent who will drive the next wave of innovation and help raise the bar on quality and integrity. The network gives members a lasting home to keep learning from one another, exchange ideas, and help steer where the profession goes next," said McCoy.
