Wipro renews ABB digital workplace deal with AI push

Wipro has renewed its digital workplace services contract with ABB, extending a long-running relationship between the two companies.

Under the renewed agreement, Wipro will continue to provide digital workplace services across ABB's global operations while adding more automation and artificial intelligence to employee support and device management. The work includes self-service tools, virtual agents, automated issue resolution and AI-assisted dispatch, alongside updates to workplace systems used by ABB staff.

The arrangement focuses on ABB's internal technology environment for a workforce spread across multiple countries and roles. Wipro will use its Wipro Intelligence suite, including AI Live Workspace, SmartOps and its WINGS delivery platform, to standardise services globally while adapting to local operational requirements.

A key focus will be lifecycle management for employee devices. Using telemetry and usage data, Wipro plans to improve how devices are managed and refreshed while strengthening endpoint security operations.

The companies also linked the work to ABB's broader digital and sustainability goals.

Workplace focus

Digital workplace contracts have become a more prominent part of IT services spending as large employers look to reduce disruption, support hybrid working and ease pressure on internal technology teams. For suppliers, these deals increasingly involve automation tools and AI-led support functions rather than traditional helpdesk work alone.

ABB, which operates in electrification and automation, said the reliability and security of its workplace systems remain central given its global scale and diverse workforce. The group is seeking a model that combines common standards with flexibility for local needs.

Long partnership

The renewed deal builds on a relationship between the two companies that has run for several years. The latest phase will deepen the use of AI in day-to-day workplace operations, with greater emphasis on predictive support and automated responses to common issues.

That approach reflects a broader move among corporate technology buyers to use AI tools in internal service functions. Instead of relying solely on manual support processes, companies are testing systems that can identify likely faults, route requests and resolve some routine problems before they affect staff productivity.

For Wipro, the ABB contract also strengthens its presence in industrial and manufacturing-related services. Suppliers to that sector have increasingly targeted back-office and employee technology work as manufacturers digitise operations beyond factory systems and production processes.

Wipro also said the ABB deal had previously been included in its financial results announcement for the quarter and year ended March 31, 2026.
