Utelize secures multi-million GBP £ investment from BGF for growth
Utelize Communications has secured a multi-million-pound investment from BGF, as the managed mobility provider aims to accelerate its product development and expand its market reach.
Growth investment
The Worcestershire-based company, founded in 2012, specialises in enterprise mobility management and offers technology and services designed to streamline mobile device and network management for corporate clients.
Utelize's enterprise eSIM and mobile data management platform enables IT teams to manage employee data connectivity domestically and internationally. The system provides real-time insight into usage and costs, offers multi-network coverage, and supports rapid deployment for large organisations managing extensive device fleets.
Focus on development
The new capital infusion from BGF will support ongoing product innovation and help scale the company's sales and marketing activities. Utelize's management said the funding would help them respond to shifts in the managed mobility sector and help reach new potential customers.
Matt Atkinson, Chief Executive Officer of Utelize Communications, said the company had established a strong platform for future growth by building its mobility management offering and investing in eSIM technology over the past few years.
"With our market-leading mobility management platform and eSIM technology, and a strong reputation for helping customers drive down costs and manage large device fleets, we've laid the foundations for future growth in a market that is dramatically and rapidly changing. To capitalise on the opportunity in full, we were looking for an investment partner with deep sector experience, a strong value creation offering, and a flexible investment model. BGF fits the bill in every respect, and we're delighted to be partnering with them," said Atkinson, Chief Executive Officer, Utelize Communications.
BGF regional strategy
BGF, which has announced plans to commit GBP £3 billion to support growth businesses in the UK over the next five years, recently earmarked GBP £300 million specifically for Midlands-based companies. The investment in Utelize follows more than GBP £500 million deployed by BGF into the Midlands since 2011. BGF maintains offices in Birmingham and Nottingham as part of its regional focus and has positioned itself as a key investor in technology and high-potential growth businesses outside London and the South East.
David Bellis, Investor at BGF, described Utelize as an enterprise that stood out among its competitors due to its proprietary technology and demonstrated returns for clients.
"Utelize is a differentiated provider that stands out in the highly competitive mobile communications sector with proprietary technology that underpins exceptional customer service levels and a demonstrable ROI. It is great to be partnering with Matt and his high calibre management team. They are on an impressive growth trajectory and have high aspirations for the future," said Bellis.
