Tech Mahindra has acquired Finastra's cash management product suite, adding Fusion Cash Management, Fusion Virtual Accounts and Fusion Liquidity Management to its banking products portfolio.

The deal includes the intellectual property for the three products and related assets across CashPlus, Global CashPlus, application programming interfaces, payables, receivables, balance and transaction reporting, liquidity management, cash-flow forecasting and virtual accounts.

It also brings experienced product engineering and customer success staff into Tech Mahindra's Banking Products team. The transaction is intended to provide continuity for existing banking, financial services and insurance clients through continued platform access, services and support.

The move expands Tech Mahindra's presence in transaction banking software, as banks face pressure to improve real-time cash visibility, manage liquidity more closely and reduce operational complexity. Demand has also grown for automated payables and receivables, compliance tools and treasury connectivity through APIs.

For Tech Mahindra, the acquisition adds a customer base and ownership of products already used by corporate and institutional banks. It also strengthens the company's position in banking software as financial institutions review how they manage cash, liquidity and account structures across multiple markets and systems.

The deal combines ownership of the product suite with Tech Mahindra's existing Finastra Centre of Excellence and its established partnership with Finastra. That structure is intended to support existing users while moving the products under Tech Mahindra's banking, financial services and insurance portfolio.

Portfolio expansion

Tech Mahindra has been expanding its banking products business beyond services and consulting, and this transaction gives it direct control of software assets focused on cash and liquidity operations. Those functions are central to transaction banking, where lenders compete on the efficiency and visibility they can offer corporate treasury teams.

The three products cover core cash management areas. Fusion Cash Management is designed for payments, collections and reporting, while Fusion Virtual Accounts focuses on account structures that improve reconciliation and visibility. Fusion Liquidity Management helps banks and their clients monitor and manage liquidity positions.

The deal also extends into adjacent areas including supply chain finance and cash-flow forecasting, according to the company's outline of the assets involved. That gives Tech Mahindra a broader base in software used by banks to serve corporate customers beyond traditional payments processing.

More broadly, the acquisition reflects a wider trend in financial technology, with service providers seeking greater control of intellectual property and recurring software relationships. For companies with large banking practices, product ownership can offer closer customer ties than advisory or implementation work alone.

Customer continuity

Both companies emphasised continuity for existing customers. This is often central in software carve-outs, particularly in banking, where system changes can create operational and regulatory risk and clients tend to require long support cycles.

"The acquisition of Finastra's Cash Management product suite strengthens our banking products portfolio and expands our ability to support financial institutions across critical cash and liquidity management needs. Through this acquisition, we are creating a strong foundation for continued innovation. Our focus is on evolving these capabilities to help banks address the growing demand for intelligent, connected and efficient cash management solutions," SAID Anil Venuturupalli, SVP, Banking Group & Chief Product Officer, Financial Services, Tech Mahindra.

For Finastra, the transaction marks the transfer of a defined group of products rather than a broader strategic alliance. The company said the products are moving to an owner with existing knowledge of its business and banking software operations.

"This is a good next step for these products, and, most importantly, for the customers who rely on them. Tech Mahindra brings deep banking and technology expertise and already knows our business well. We're confident they are well positioned to take these solutions forward and continue supporting customers as their needs evolve," Ruchir Purwar, Head of Partnerships & Cross-Selling Sales, Finastra, said.
