ScreenCloud adds remote control tools for Amazon Signage

Mon, 26th Jan 2026

ScreenCloud has added remote device management features for Amazon Signage Stick deployments through Amazon's Remote Management API.

The integration gives ScreenCloud customers access to a set of remote controls for screens and players used in digital signage networks. ScreenCloud said the functions sit alongside its content management system for managing signage content across locations.

Remote controls

ScreenCloud said the Remote Management API gives its users Remote Device Management for the Amazon Signage Stick. The company listed controls that include powering screens on and off via HDMI CEC, rebooting devices, capturing screenshots, clearing the system cache, restarting the player app, monitoring CPU and GPU temperatures, and checking HDMI status.

ScreenCloud noted that HDMI-CEC 2.0 compatibility may vary by TV model.

The company positioned the feature set as a way to manage common operational tasks without staff travelling to a site. ScreenCloud said it reduced the reliance on local staff for troubleshooting and day-to-day device interventions.

Remote device management has become a standard request for organisations that run signage across multiple sites. Operators often need ways to verify playback, check device status, and address issues without interrupting staff at each location. In this case, ScreenCloud said it is among the first CMS providers offering remote device management for Amazon Signage Stick.

Amazon hardware

Amazon Signage Stick launched in late 2024 as a digital signage player aimed at business use. Amazon based the product on the Fire TV Stick line, which has seen wide use in basic signage deployments. ScreenCloud described the newer device as purpose-built for signage use.

ScreenCloud said the Signage Stick boots directly into a signage-optimised operating system. The company also pointed to secure bootloaders, enhanced security and "uninterrupted playback". It said the player integrates with platforms such as ScreenCloud.

ScreenCloud listed features of the device as 4K streaming, high-bandwidth Wi‑Fi, secure connectivity and regular updates.

Digital signage deployments often use low-cost media players connected to displays in retail, hospitality, corporate offices, healthcare and education. In those environments, operators tend to prioritise reliable playback and rapid remediation when a screen goes blank or shows the wrong content.

Operational impact

The addition of remote controls can change how IT teams manage signage networks. Tasks such as rebooting a device, restarting an app, or checking HDMI status can take significant time when staff must attend site visits or contact local employees. ScreenCloud said the remote tools provided a way to address a set of faults and checks from a central location.

Screenshot capture can also form part of proof-of-play workflows, where teams need confirmation that content appeared as scheduled. Temperature monitoring can signal overheating risks in enclosed mounts or poorly ventilated locations.

ScreenCloud did not disclose commercial terms for the integration or any changes to pricing. It also did not specify whether all customers receive the feature set as standard or whether it depends on subscription tiers.

ScreenCloud position

ScreenCloud said it has worked with Amazon devices since the early period of the Fire TV Stick's adoption for signage. It said it was among the first vendors on the Amazon Signage Stick.

"Our partnership with Amazon dates back to our early days, when we optimized our software for the Fire TV Stick. We were proud to be one of the first vendors on the Amazon Signage Stick, and now, we're leading the way with Remote Device Management. The blend of cost-effectiveness, performance, and control makes this a game-changer for businesses," said Mark McDermott, CEO, ScreenCloud.

ScreenCloud also described other parts of its product offering. It cited security, a dashboard for management, integrations with apps, and professional services for planning and post-launch work.

Amazon has expanded its signage-specific approach in recent years, as device vendors and CMS providers compete for standardised deployments across distributed estates. ScreenCloud said the remote management features make the combination of Amazon Signage Stick and ScreenCloud more suitable for organisations running signage at scale.

ScreenCloud said it expects customers using Amazon Signage Stick to use the remote controls for routine maintenance and monitoring across multi-site networks.
