Quest Software unveils AI updates to database tools

Yesterday

Quest Software has announced significant updates to its database management tools, Toad Data Studio 2.0 and Toad Data Point 6.4, by introducing AI-powered features and enhanced connectivity options.

The recent upgrades aim to assist organisations facing challenges in managing complex database environments. Many professionals are increasingly being tasked with Database Administrator (DBA) responsibilities without formal training, and Quest Software's enhancements are designed to help bridge the skills gap that exists within the field.

A Quest and Enterprise Software Group report highlights that 93% of organisations operate in multiplatform environments. Additionally, it notes that almost half of the database professionals were not initially hired as DBAs but have assumed such responsibilities over time.

The AI-powered features included in the recent updates aim to address these challenges by automating intricate tasks and enhancing user-friendliness, aiding both experienced and novice data professionals. These tools enable teams to maintain performance standards, ensure continuous uptime, and uphold data integrity, regardless of formal DBA training.

Bharath Vasudevan, Vice President of Product at Quest Software, said, "Managing complex data environments shouldn't be a barrier to business success. With these AI-driven enhancements, we're making it easier for professionals at any skill level to manage, analyse, and integrate data across platforms. And as more customers shift from Oracle to modern data lakes like Databricks, we want to simplify the data integration and ensure they have the right tools to navigate this transition."

Among the key features of the updated tools is AI Integration. These AI-powered features are geared towards streamlining workflows, facilitating more efficient work for experienced DBAs while enabling users with less coding experience to perform tasks more confidently.

The updates also include Expanded Connectivity features. Toad Data Point 6.4 now accommodates Databricks, and Toad Data Studio 2.0 has added Oracle Cloud Fusion connectivity. This broadens support for contemporary data environments, affording users enhanced flexibility in managing and integrating data seamlessly across various platforms.

Moreover, Total Accessibility is a new feature that benefits Toad for Oracle customers holding an active commercial license. These customers can now access Toad Data Studio for free by downloading it from the trial page. The software recognises their existing license automatically, allowing them to explore multiplatform database management without incurring additional costs.
