Multiverse hires Jay Richman as Chief Product Officer

Multiverse has appointed former Amazon and Spotify executive Jay Richman as Chief Product Officer, as it reports more than USD $100 million in revenue and net revenue retention above 120%.

Richman has relocated from New York to London for the role. He will lead product strategy and the development of Multiverse's technology platform.

Multiverse sells training and apprenticeship programmes focused on AI, data and digital skills. It works with employers and positions its platform as a way to accelerate the adoption of new technologies in the workplace.

Product remit

Richman will oversee the platform used by Multiverse customers and learners. The platform has served more than 30,000 learners across 1,500 customers, according to the company.

A central component is Atlas, a Socratic AI coach that sits alongside human-led support. Atlas has more than tripled its daily active users over the past year, the company said.

Richman joins as UK technology companies continue to compete with US firms for experienced product leaders. His move also reflects a recent pattern of senior hires relocating to London for roles at the intersection of AI and workforce training.

Career path

Richman has spent more than two decades in product leadership. He worked on the launch of Hulu, which became one of the early large-scale streaming services.

He then spent around a decade at Spotify, working across advertising, subscriptions and podcasting, according to Multiverse. He later moved to Amazon, where he worked on generative and agentic AI systems used to create and optimise content.

Multiverse's recent performance provides a backdrop for the hire. In its last financial year, the company says it surpassed USD $100 million in revenue and reported net revenue retention above 120%, a metric indicating existing customers are increasing spend over time.

Expansion focus

The appointment comes as Multiverse expands in Europe. The company recently entered Germany and has set an ambition to upskill 100,000 German workers.

Founded in 2016, Multiverse says it has trained more than 30,000 apprentices. Customers cited by the company include Babcock, John Lewis Partnership and KPMG.

Richman framed the role in terms of product experience and repeat usage.

Richman will be based in London as Multiverse continues hiring and developing its product line around Atlas and its apprenticeship offering, with Germany and other international markets expected to remain a focus.
