M Group completes Telent deal to boost digital infrastructure
M Group has completed its acquisition of Telent, a provider of operational technology and digital infrastructure solutions in the UK and Ireland, after receiving regulatory approvals.
Deal overview
The completed acquisition brings together M Group's infrastructure services with Telent's established capabilities in technology and digital solutions. M Group delivers infrastructure services across sectors, including water, energy, rail, aviation, highways, and telecom, for both private and public sector clients. Telent specialises in designing, building, supporting, and managing critical digital infrastructure and communications networks.
According to M Group, this integration will broaden the Group's expertise across key markets, strengthen existing relationships with shared customers, and support the firm's planned growth initiatives.
Integration and continuity
Andrew Findlay, Chief Executive of M Group, commented on the significance of the acquisition for both organisations. He stated:
"Together, we are greater than the sum of our parts. Telent's differentiated capabilities, market position and the talented people that make it a great business, makes us even better placed to deliver essential infrastructure services for life for our clients, communities and the planet.
"As we enter a period of integration, we will continue to focus on business as usual, putting safety and our clients first."
Both companies have indicated that operations will continue without disruption as they begin the process of integrating teams, systems and client management protocols. This approach is aimed at ensuring ongoing delivery to clients and minimising operational risks during the transition phase.
Market opportunities
Jo Gretton, Chief Executive of Telent, highlighted the future prospects provided by the deal. She said:
"We are looking forward to exploring the opportunities this acquisition brings, building on our excellent reputation and continuing to be a trusted partner for organisations at the forefront of the digital revolution."
Telent's work includes projects for organisations such as Transport for London, National Highways, Maritime and Coastguard Agency, and the Ambulance Radio Programme. The company's expertise lies in supporting transport, emergency services, network providers and public sector clients with communications and technology solutions.
Growth acceleration
The acquisition has also received comment from CVC, a global private equity and investment advisory firm. Dominic Murphy, Managing Partner and Co-Head of the UK team at CVC, stated:
"This latest acquisition will transform M Group's digital and technology capabilities and accelerates its growth momentum."
Combining resources is expected to enhance M Group's offerings in digital and technology-enabled infrastructure projects, positioning the joined company to respond to the evolving needs of customers across the UK and Ireland.
Scale and capability
M Group currently employs more than 11,000 people across 200 locations and has a heritage dating back over a century. Telent brings experience in managing communications for mission-critical environments and claims to be a trusted partner for organisations addressing digital transformation in industry and public services.
The integration is intended to allow both firms to pool resources and expertise, supporting continued development of telecommunications, digital infrastructure, and operational technology backed by an expanded workforce and broadened skill set.
The transaction follows a period of regulatory review, with all necessary approvals now secured, enabling the companies to move forward in their combined operations and strategic aims.
