Informatica named Leader in 2025 Gartner data quadrant
Informatica from Salesforce has been named a Leader in Gartner's 2025 Magic Quadrant for Data Integration Tools, marking the company's 20th consecutive year in the Leaders quadrant of the influential analyst report.
Gartner also placed Informatica furthest on the report's Completeness of Vision axis. The company said this is the 12th year in a row it has held that position.
The recognition highlights the central role of data integration software in enterprise technology strategies. The tools sit between operational systems, analytics platforms and AI models. Vendors in the segment compete on breadth of tooling, automation, governance, metadata management and cloud support.
Long-running recognition
Informatica is one of the longest-standing vendors in the data integration market. The company now operates as Informatica from Salesforce and focuses on cloud-based data management and AI-related products.
The 20-year run in the Leaders quadrant spans a period in which data integration has shifted from on-premise extract-transform-load products to cloud-native services that support hybrid and multi-cloud architectures.
Gartner's Magic Quadrant series assesses vendors on two primary dimensions. These are Completeness of Vision and Ability to Execute. Leaders are vendors that the analyst firm judges to have a strong vision and strong execution compared with peers.
"We are honored to be acknowledged once more as a Leader in the 2025 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Data Integration Tools. To us, this recognition reflects our deep commitment to aligning our innovations with evolving customer needs for modern analytics, operational integration, data science and AI ready data infrastructure," said Pratik Parekh, Senior Vice President and General Manager at Informatica.
AI shifts workload
Gartner's research points to a growing role for artificial intelligence inside data integration platforms. The firm expects AI assistants and AI-enhanced workflows inside these tools to take over a significant share of manual work.
Gartner states, "By 2027, AI assistants and AI-enhanced workflows within data integration tools will reduce manual effort by 60% and enable self-service data management."
The forecast implies wider use of intelligent automation inside data engineering processes. It also indicates that business users will interact more directly with data integration environments through guided and conversational interfaces.
According to Gartner, "Data integration tools remain a fundamental architectural component as organizations increasingly seek improved capabilities to support their operational, analytical and AI use cases."
AI initiatives in focus
Informatica positions its technology as a core layer for AI and analytics programmes. Its products span data cataloguing, ingestion, integration and transformation. They also cover data quality, enrichment, automation and governance.
The company said that organisations require consistent and well-governed data flows as they increase investment in AI, including agent-based AI systems and generative AI applications.
"Effective data integration is foundational for powering all AI initiatives, including Agentic AI and GenAI. Our comprehensive, end-to-end capabilities-spanning data catalog, discovery, ingestion, integration, transformation, cleansing, enrichment, automation and governance - ensure organizations can confidently fuel their AI models with high-quality data. This enables the development of smarter, more reliable and ultimately more impactful AI-driven outcomes" added Pratik Parekh.
Cloud data strategy
Informatica from Salesforce focuses on its Intelligent Data Management Cloud, or IDMC, as a central platform for its products. The platform connects and manages data across on-premise systems and multiple public clouds. It also supports metadata management, privacy controls and master data management.
The company operates within a broad partner ecosystem and aligns its services with AI-oriented initiatives among large enterprises. Customers typically use such platforms to support analytics programmes, customer data initiatives and operational reporting.
Salesforce positions itself as an AI-focused customer relationship management provider. The relationship with Informatica links customer data and operational data flows with cloud-based analytics and AI tools.
Vendors in the data integration segment face rising demand for automation, stronger governance and support for both structured and unstructured data. They also face pressure to align with regulatory requirements around privacy and data residency.
Gartner's assessment of Informatica in the 2025 Magic Quadrant comes as enterprises scale up AI experiments and move more workloads into production environments. The analyst firm expects AI-driven automation inside data integration tools to expand over the next several years.
