Ahead Health raises USD $6m to grow AI preventive care
Ahead Health has raised USD $6 million in seed funding for its preventive healthcare business, with RTP Global leading the round.
Tiny.VC and Pareto 20 also participated in the financing. The company said several entrepreneurs joined as individual backers. It named Thomas Wolf of Hugging Face, Kai Eberhardt of Oviva, Stef van Grieken of Cradle, Sara Hürlimann of Zahnarztzentrum, Michiel Bakker of MIT and DeepMind, and Cody Gakpo of Liverpool FC.
Ahead Health operates from Zurich and positions itself as a preventive healthcare provider with a software platform that uses artificial intelligence. The company said it operates as a licensed medical practice through partnerships with clinics in Switzerland and Germany.
Preventive focus
The company links check-ups such as MRI scans, blood tests and CT scans with an AI-based platform. It said the platform translates biomarkers into personalised insights and health plans. The company said the process runs digitally.
Ahead Health said its full-body MRI scan and blood tests take 30 minutes. It said customers receive a personalised health plan after the tests.
The business said early detection remains limited in healthcare systems that focus on treatment after symptoms appear. It also pointed to the use of AI to identify potential signs of disease from imaging and blood data.
Expansion plans
Ahead Health said it will use the new funding to expand further in Europe. It said it plans to sign more partner clinics across Germany, the Netherlands and Austria.
The company also set out product and hiring priorities. It said it will enhance its platform, introduce new testing modalities and grow its engineering team.
Ahead Health said it has built partnerships with what it described as the largest clinical brands in Switzerland and Germany. It did not name the partners.
Founding team
Ahead Health said it was founded in 2024 by former Google executives, medical doctors and health technology builders. It said the team aims to widen access to preventive health checks.
Nick Lenten is CEO and Co-Founder of Ahead Health. The company's leadership team also includes Vinsensius Vega as CTO and Co-Founder.
Customer findings
The company said its service has identified previously unknown medical issues among customers. It reported that 25% of its customers found a health issue that they did not know about before using the service.
"Well-analysed data for preventative health purposes is already making a massive difference, with 25% of those who have used our services discovering a medical issue that was previously unknown to them. Next to that, we also uncover more longevity-focused insights - for instance when our MRI analysis pinpointed the root cause of my own nagging lower back pain, which then allowed me to treat the issue. We're thrilled to welcome new investment as we enter a new stage of growth and many more people will experience such relief as a result. We all want to be able to lift our grandkids when we're 70, and early detection is the key," said Nick Lenten, CEO and Co-Founder, Ahead Health.
Data and platform
The company described its platform as a system that learns from research and individual health patterns. It said it combines testing with software analysis within partner clinics.
"Proprietary, hard-to-get data is where we believe the AI-puck is going. We want to help people securely and safely build that data set, and help make sense of it - embedded in the local healthcare system they're part of," said Vega.
Investor view
RTP Global said preventive health represents a growing application area for AI in healthcare. The firm said it backed the company based on its team and early traction.
"There's enormous untapped potential in the preventative health space, which is quickly emerging as one of the most exciting applications of AI in healthcare. Nick and team combine operator experience with healthcare expertise to keep building on their success and serve the growing number of consumers placing a priority on proactive health management. We're very proud to back them on their journey," said Jelmer de Jong.
Ahead Health said it intends to grow its clinic network in additional European markets as it expands its service offering.
