VIVO Defence Services launches AI & data training for MOD work
VIVO Defence Services has launched a data and artificial intelligence (AI) training initiative for its workforce in partnership with Multiverse.
The programme is aimed at equipping VIVO Defence Services employees with practical skills in data analytics, AI, and predictive modelling. The training will support the company's efforts to meet the evolving needs of the Ministry of Defence (MOD), for which VIVO is a significant estate services provider.
Workforce skills
Through its partnership with Multiverse, VIVO's staff will participate in the Data and Insights for Business Decisions and AI for Business Value programmes. The intention is to strengthen technical skills and enable employees to leverage data-driven techniques to support operational and business decisions across the MOD estate.
VIVO, jointly owned by Serco and Equans, carries out maintenance, asset management, and project management services on more than 100 military bases and manages over 27,000 Service Family Accommodation homes on behalf of the Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO). The company also provides services to the MOD's Volunteer Estate and the Defence Science and Technology Labouratory (Dstl).
By enrolling team members in these training programmes, VIVO is seeking to enhance how it processes and utilises the data it gathers during its estate services activities. This is expected to assist in improving both current and future service provision for the MOD.
Operational impact
The data we collect across our organisation is a strategic asset that provides us with real-time insights into the work we do. Further enhancing the way we use this data and AI to influence our operational business decisions will benefit our customer - the UK military. This is all about our mission to improve the lived experience for service personnel and to play our part in enhancing the UK's defence capability.
As stated by Paul Roberts, Energy & Sustainability Director and Innovation Champion at VIVO Defence Services, the firm sees data as a valuable resource for both current work and long-term outcomes for the armed forces.
Training programmes
Multiverse's training offerings are centred on developing skills that are relevant and applicable in a rapidly changing technological landscape. Employees undertaking the Data and Insights for Business Decisions course will develop competence in interpreting data for strategic planning and daily operations, while the AI for Business Value programme introduces methodologies for understanding and implementing AI within a business context.
VIVO Defence Services is demonstrating a clear commitment to its people and its mission by investing in these critical skills. By training its team in data and AI, it is not just future-proofing its workforce: it is directly enhancing its ability to serve the UK military and make a real-world impact. We are incredibly proud to partner with them on this journey.
This perspective, provided by Gary Eimerman, Chief Learning Officer at Multiverse, highlights the expected benefits of improved data and AI literacy, not only for individual career progression but also for organisational effectiveness in supporting MOD priorities.
Commitment to development
The launch of these programmes underscores VIVO's stated commitment to the professional development of its employees. By strengthening digital competencies within its workforce, the company aims to build capacity for addressing both present and future challenges in the defence estate management sector.
VIVO Defence Services continues to support MOD requirements through a range of maintenance, hard facilities management and project management contracts. Its collaboration with Multiverse reflects a strategic approach to workforce preparedness in line with digital transformation trends observed across the defence and facilities management sector.
