ThoughtSpot appoints James Smith as VP of EMEA
ThoughtSpot has announced the appointment of James Smith as its Vice President of EMEA. Smith brings a wealth of experience to this pivotal role, where he will drive the maximisation of companies' data investments and aid their transition from legacy BI. He will also advocate and facilitate the adoption of reliable, accurate Generative AI (GenAI), whilst fostering the development of innovative, data-backed business ideas.
ThoughtSpot made this strategic hire amidst displaying remarkable growth, which the company owes to multiple successes. Notably, ThoughtSpot Embedded, their embedded analytics solution introduced in late 2021, emerged as a leading platform for product and app developers eager to integrate AI with their analytics. ThoughtSpot also caught the industry's attention with the launch and expansion of Sage, an AI-powered search experience. This unique tool empowers any user, regardless of technical skills, to garner valuable insights from their data through natural language search. Furthermore, these major strides coincided with the key appointments of Ahmed Quadri as Chief Customer Officer and Anthony Lee-Masis as Chief Information Security Officer.
James Smith will be responsible for managing ThoughtSpot's operations across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. In these regions, he will guide companies towards unlocking the full value of their data investments and navigate their shift from legacy BI to embrace GenAI. Prior to joining ThoughtSpot, Smith served as the UK & I General Manager for Tableau. There, he was instrumental in transforming how analysts leveraged and presented data, thus helping the region meet and exceed growth targets. At ThoughtSpot, Smith will continue to democratise data, addressing technical teams and every knowledge worker alike.
"With the rapid advancement of Generative AI, every business is at a crossroads. Everyone knows they have to put data to work in new ways to thrive today and into the future. However, we have a responsibility to put people – not technology – at the heart of these processes," expressed Jeff Depa, Chief Revenue Officer at ThoughtSpot. He added, "As we continue our growth journey, James' experience and leadership will help our customers across EMEA break free from the shackles of legacy BI, maximise the value of data investments, and spark their Data Renaissance."
Expressing his excitement for his new role, James Smith, V.P. of EMEA at ThoughtSpot, stated, "The real opportunity ahead is getting data, and more importantly insights, into the hands of non-technical users whenever and wherever they are making decisions. Pairing Generative AI with ThoughtSpot's patented search platform promises to bring data to the fingertips of all users and usher in a new era for analytics that makes this vision a reality. I'm excited to help customers across EMEA tenfold data's impact in their organisations."
This appointment cements ThoughtSpot's commitment to driving the adoption of AI-powered analytics in a world that is increasingly looking to transition from legacy analytics technology, embrace GenAI to transform BI, and ignite what ThoughtSpot describes as a 'Data Renaissance'.
