Teradata & Anaconda integrate for trusted AI innovation support
Wed, 10th Apr 2024

In a joint effort to bolster open-source support for trusted artificial intelligence (AI) innovation, tech companies Teradata and Anaconda have announced a new integration. The objective is to present the most widely used Python and R packages on Teradata VantageCloud via the Anaconda Repository. The association between Anaconda's repository of Python and R packages and Teradata's potent ClearScape Analytics aims to accelerate the delivery and application of data science and generative AI models.

This cooperation capitalises on the essential requirements of organisations aiming to exploit AI innovation. It is crucial to have a platform that supports the swift adoption of popular and secure open-source packages while simultaneously offering scale, performance, and access to harmonised data and trusted AI. According to the partnering companies, this alliance addresses these needs by facilitating the deployment and operationalisation of AI developed using Anaconda's secure repository of open-source Python and R packages.

Hillary Ashton, Chief Product Officer at Teradata, expressed her enthusiasm about the union. "There is so much innovation happening in the open-source community, and we're thrilled to be working with Anaconda to bring their popular open-source packages to Teradata VantageCloud Lake," she said.

Further, Ashton pointed out that bringing Anaconda's offering to ClearScape Analytics will empower the 45 million data scientists, data engineers, developers, and analytics professionals that utilise Anaconda to deploy and operationalise trusted AI at an enterprise level while minimising cost.

This integration is designed to equip enterprise users with various advantages, such as the ability to rapidly deploy and operationalise AI developed using open-source Python and R packages, unlock the full potential of data at scale with a wide variety of Python and R functionality on VantageCloud Lake, flexibly use packages and versions of their choice for large-scale data science, AI and generative AI use-cases, and securely work with Python/R models into VantageCloud Lake with no intellectual property (IP) leakage.

Barry Libert, CEO at Anaconda, underlined the critical aspect of a secure and trusted platform in a world where AI is increasingly embedded in all businesses. "Teradata's investment in data privacy and security aligns well with Anaconda's deep commitment to secure, trusted AI innovation, and allows us to provide a simple, rapid, and innovative open-source solution to increase AI business value," he stated.

The companies announced that Teradata VantageCloud Lake customers will soon have the option to download Python and R packages from the Anaconda Repository at no extra cost. Python packages are already accessible, while R packages will be available before the year's end.

The collaboration between Teradata and Anaconda marks a significant step forward in advancing open-source support for trusted AI innovation. By integrating Anaconda's repository of Python and R packages with Teradata's ClearScape Analytics on VantageCloud, the partnership aims to streamline the deployment and operationalisation of data science and AI models.

This initiative underscores the growing importance of secure and scalable platforms in enabling organisations to harness the full potential of AI while minimising costs and ensuring data privacy. As the integration progresses, it promises to provide enterprise users with enhanced flexibility and efficiency in leveraging open-source tools for AI-driven insights and decision-making.
