SolarWinds releases new version of Observability software

Yesterday

SolarWinds has launched the latest version of its SolarWinds Observability, accessible in both self-hosted and SaaS formats.

With over 25 years of network and infrastructure monitoring experience, SolarWinds aims to broaden its offerings for on-premises and cloud infrastructure visibility, fortified by advanced AI and machine learning functionalities. The update addresses the challenge IT teams face in gaining unified visibility across diverse hybrid environments.

Research by GigaOm indicates that 85% of organisations encounter difficulties in managing application complexity in hybrid environments. SolarWinds' new capabilities are developed to bridge this visibility gap, offering a solution that promises flexibility, capability, and ease of deployment across all hosting environments.

Cullen Childress, Senior Vice President of Product at SolarWinds, said, "This next generation of SolarWinds Observability closes the hybrid visibility gaps we've heard voiced by IT practitioners and leaders around the world. They've told us they're struggling to find a solution that provides the level of visibility they need over both their on-premises and cloud-native ecosystems. SolarWinds is ending their struggle today."

Market analysis shows that the current hybrid IT environments pose visibility and management challenges for most companies, with 85% noting application complexity as an operational hurdle, according to research from GigaOm. Flexera's findings suggest that 73% of organisations use a hybrid cloud architecture, while Gartner predicts that 50% of critical enterprise applications will operate outside centralised public clouds by 2027.

Krishna Sai, Senior Vice President of Technology and Engineering at SolarWinds, stated, "We believe customers should decide how they monitor and manage their hybrid IT infrastructures — not vendors dictating their choices. SolarWinds meets customers where they are in their hybrid IT journey so they can explore and adopt our offerings and modernise and move to the cloud confidently and at their own pace."

SolarWinds incorporates client feedback, the THWACK online user community, and the wider IT sector to refine its products and roadmap. Justin Diana, Vice President of Information Technology at Corevist, remarked, "SolarWinds is the right choice for Corevist for the simple reason that they 'get it. Not only do they have the right tools, knowledge, and expertise, but they listen. They evolved and grew with us. It's rare to find partners and vendors in the market like SolarWinds."

According to SolarWinds, the updated SolarWinds Observability offers flexible monitoring of hybrid environments and allows for granular monitoring based on the user's needs. Childress explained, "With SolarWinds Observability Self-Hosted, customers can observe their on-premises and cloud workloads from a single pane of glass. Similarly, with SolarWinds Observability SaaS, they can observe their cloud-native workloads and still observe their on-premises infrastructure."

Key updates to the SolarWinds Observability suite include broader on-premises infrastructure monitoring, expanded cloud infrastructure observability, comprehensive network performance analysis, and enhanced intelligence with AI/ML capabilities. These tools aim to simplify hybrid environment management while providing extensive visibility.

SolarWinds' technology has produced significant results for its users, with L&F Distributors reducing issue resolution times by 60-80% and Silverback Systems eliminating 75% of IT issues through improved infrastructure visibility.

The company has also announced a new universal database licence for its Database Performance Analyzer and SQL Sentry products, offering flexibility in deployment for customers using a range of database types.
