SoftTech marks 30 years in digital building systems

SoftTech Engineers has marked its 30th anniversary, highlighting three decades in digital systems for the AECO sector and urban governance.
Founded in 1996, the business started with engineering design software before moving into automated building plan scrutiny in India. It later expanded into digital tools for planning, permitting, construction and asset management.
Its Civit Suite has processed more than 2 million building permits and supported approvals for more than 30 billion square feet of built-up area. The platforms are used by more than 1,500 government agencies, enterprises and organisations, with a user base of more than 400,000 across India and overseas markets.
The group employs more than 550 technology and domain professionals and has worked across more than 18 Indian states. Its systems enable authorities to issue one building permit every five minutes on average through automated workflows.
SoftTech says digital processes on its platforms have reduced approval times by up to 70%. In infrastructure projects, its software has helped organisations cut delivery times by up to 25% while improving visibility over large public works schemes.
Urban systems
Over time, SoftTech has become a software supplier to public bodies and infrastructure organisations seeking to digitise approvals and monitoring. Its products include CivitPLAN, CivitPERMIT, CivitINFRA and CivitBUILD, covering building plan approvals, urban governance and infrastructure project management.
Recent additions to the portfolio include CivitTWIN for compliance simulation and the Digital e-TDR Exchange for Transferable Development Rights management. SoftTech also highlighted CivitINFRA, a BIM-enabled infrastructure monitoring platform, which it said was selected by the Airports Authority of India for a ₹17.16 crore digital transformation project.
The company now has a presence in India, the United States, Germany, the Middle East, Africa and the Asia-Pacific region. Its focus remains on software for the Architecture, Engineering, Construction and Operations market, as well as digital tools used by government agencies.

SoftTech says its early work in automated building plan scrutiny helped lay the foundation for digital building permission systems used by urban local bodies. It argues that the shift from manual processes to software-based review has improved transparency, regulatory compliance and administrative efficiency.
Its operations now span both government technology and construction technology, reflecting a wider push to digitise public administration and infrastructure management. The AECO market has drawn increasing attention from software suppliers as authorities and developers seek tools to manage approvals, compliance and project oversight more efficiently.
SoftTech's anniversary comes as digital systems for planning and construction play a larger role in urban development policy in India. Its long-term focus remains on Artificial Intelligence, Digital Twins, BIM, GIS, Blockchain and automation in the built environment.
