Seagate launches Exos storage for AI-ready enterprise workloads

Thu, 13th Nov 2025

Seagate has unveiled two new enterprise storage systems aimed at supporting the rapidly increasing data needs driven by artificial intelligence adoption. The Exos 4U100 and 4U74 platforms are designed to deliver high-capacity, energy-efficient storage for both data centre and edge workloads.

AI-fuelled demand

Recent industry research highlights the expansion of enterprise data as organisations generate new forms of content through generative AI. According to a study by IDC, sponsored by Seagate, 78% of organisations now produce different types of content enabled by AI. Yet, only a third of business leaders believe their existing storage infrastructure is prepared for these workloads.

"The key question is no longer whether data volumes will rise, but how enterprises can harness that scale to deliver measurable value," said Adam Wright, Research Manager at IDC.

System specifications

The Exos 4U100 and 4U74 systems provide up to 3.2 petabytes of storage in a single enclosure. Seagate claims this is the highest density for a system of its type currently available. The systems incorporate the company's Mozaic HAMR technology, which supports both increased data throughput and long-term retention for data-intensive applications.

Designed to support both SAS and SATA drives, the systems prioritise operational efficiency. Seagate estimates these solutions reduce power usage by 30% and improve cooling efficiency by 70% over previous models. Installation is streamlined with features for fast deployment across diverse locations, from traditional data centres to edge sites.

Strategic priorities

Changing regulatory requirements around data sovereignty are influencing storage strategy. Organisations are increasingly required to store and manage data locally to comply with jurisdictional privacy and compliance standards. Additionally, the shift towards on-premises AI workflows and distributed analytics places higher demands on local storage capacity and performance.

"The Seagate Exos 4U100 JBOD marks the beginning of a bold new chapter in edge storage innovation-engineered to meet the evolving demands of data creation, storage, replication and analysis at the edge. It's not just a product; it's a demonstration of Seagate's commitment to empowering organizations to retain more data for longer periods of time, as leaders assess the value data can bring to future business outcomes," said Melyssa Banda, SVP Edge Storage and Services at Seagate.

Security and deployment

Both storage systems include security features such as secure boot, Seagate's own Secure certificate, and compatibility with Redfish management protocols. They are targeted at enterprises seeking compliance-ready solutions for sensitive or regulated workloads.

The systems support tool-less access, flexible rack compatibility, and rapid installations, minimising operational disruption for enterprises expanding or upgrading their data infrastructure.

Market availability

The Exos 4U100 and 4U74 will be distributed through authorised partners, targeting industries where large-scale data generation and on-premises analytics are critical requirements.

"The key question is no longer whether data volumes will rise, but how enterprises can harness that scale to deliver measurable value," said Wright
