Río Hondo College taps Boldyn for managed ERP support

Río Hondo College has selected Boldyn Networks to provide managed application and enterprise resource planning support, adding external support to its internal IT operations.
The partnership covers assessment, support and optimisation of the college's application environment. The scope includes cloud migration planning, infrastructure hosting management, application management, Software-as-a-Service readiness, database administration, and business continuity and disaster recovery planning.
The arrangement is intended to expand the capacity of the college's internal IT team while strengthening support for systems used in day-to-day operations. Río Hondo College is seeking specialist help without adding pressure to existing staff.
That reflects a wider pattern in higher education, where institutions are reviewing core administrative systems and the resources needed to manage them. Research from EDUCAUSE found that 72% of institutions have recently completed an ERP project, underlining demand for implementation, integration, optimisation and support services.
ERP systems underpin many college and university processes, including finance, human resources and student administration. As those environments grow more complex, institutions have increasingly turned to outside providers for ongoing support as well as project work.
Support model
For Río Hondo College, the deal is meant to free internal staff to focus more on strategic work rather than routine support and maintenance. Boldyn will provide specialist services across planning and operational areas tied to the college's application estate.
The college's technology leadership described the agreement in practical terms.
"Our technology systems play an essential role in supporting every part of the college experience. As the complexity of those systems continues to grow, it becomes increasingly important to have access to the right expertise and resources. Boldyn's higher education experience and dedicated support model give us confidence that we can continue delivering reliable services while allowing our internal team to focus on the strategic initiatives that drive value for our students, faculty and staff," said Allan Abutin, Interim Executive Director, Information Technology Services, Río Hondo College.
The partnership is part of a broader effort to improve the experience of students, faculty and staff through stronger technology support. The focus is on maintaining reliable systems while easing operational strain on the in-house team.
For Boldyn, the contract extends its work with higher education institutions beyond network and infrastructure services into managed application support. The arrangement complements its existing work in campus networks, cloud services, IT operations and cybersecurity.
Sector demand
Managed application services have become a larger focus for suppliers serving universities and colleges. Many institutions have already completed major ERP programmes and now face the longer-term challenge of maintaining, refining and integrating those systems.
Those pressures have been compounded by limited staffing and the need to balance operational reliability with broader digital transformation goals. In that context, outsourcing selected support functions can give IT departments access to specialist expertise while retaining oversight of technology strategy.
Boldyn presented the agreement as an example of that trend in the education market.
"Higher education institutions are navigating significant technology transformation while managing increasing demands on internal IT teams. Río Hondo College has taken a proactive approach by investing in the ERP services and expertise needed to support its long-term goals. We are proud to be selected as a trusted partner and look forward to helping the college maximize the value of its technology environment while delivering reliable experiences for its campus community," said Matt Loecke, SVP Higher Education, Boldyn Networks US.
The scope of work suggests the college is looking beyond immediate application support. By including cloud migration planning, hosting management and disaster recovery planning, the engagement also covers how core systems are housed, maintained and protected over time.
That matters for institutions whose administrative platforms are central to both academic and business operations. Any disruption to those systems can affect enrolment, staffing, payroll, procurement and student services, making continuity planning and specialist support increasingly important.
Boldyn's managed technology business has largely been associated with connectivity and infrastructure, but the Río Hondo College agreement points to a broader role in institutional IT operations. Its managed application services are intended to help colleges and universities manage more complex application environments while maintaining visibility and control over technology strategy.
