Proofpoint has joined Google's Unified Security Recommended programme, placing the cyber security company in Google's invitation-only partner group.

The programme recognises security providers that meet Google's standards for technical integration, customer support and joint product work. For Proofpoint, the recognition is tied to integrations with Google Cloud Security across hybrid and multi-cloud environments.

The partnership is aimed at organisations seeking to unify security operations as they manage threats across email, collaboration tools, cloud applications and sensitive data. It is also intended to support businesses adopting artificial intelligence tools while limiting added operational complexity.

Google's Unified Security Recommended programme identifies vendors whose products work closely with Google's own security offerings. Companies accepted into the group are expected to provide interoperable tools that customers can deploy across different environments.

For Proofpoint, the move adds to a broader strategy of deepening ties with large cloud and security providers. Its existing integrations with Google Cloud Security are designed to improve visibility for security teams and support investigation workflows through shared telemetry and threat intelligence.

The announcement comes as companies face pressure to simplify complex security stacks spanning on-premise systems, public cloud services and newer AI-driven workflows. Across the sector, suppliers have increasingly focused on tighter product links as customers seek fewer isolated tools and faster incident response.

Integration focus

Proofpoint said the collaboration with Google is meant to strengthen protection against attacks targeting email and collaboration systems, which remain among the most common entry points for cyber intrusions. It also said the work is intended to support secure AI use by protecting people, data and AI-driven processes.

The company has positioned itself around what it describes as human- and agent-centric cyber security, with products spanning threat protection, data loss prevention and collaboration security. Google's recognition provides external validation of how those products connect with a large cloud security ecosystem.

Proofpoint said the integrations supporting the Google programme are already available and that the relationship should help customers deploy connected security tools with greater confidence.

Tom Corn, Executive Vice President and General Manager of the Threat Protection Group at Proofpoint, commented on the development.

"Being selected to join the Google Unified Security Recommended program reflects our commitment to helping organizations simplify security while strengthening protection across people, data and AI," said Tom Corn, Executive Vice President and General Manager of the Threat Protection Group at Proofpoint.

"By combining Proofpoint's human- and agent-centric cybersecurity platform with Google Cloud's security capabilities, we're helping customers deploy integrated security that delivers greater visibility, faster response, and stronger protection without added complexity," said Corn.

Market backdrop

The tie-up reflects a wider shift in the security market toward platform integration rather than stand-alone products. Many large organisations now run workloads across several cloud providers while maintaining legacy systems, forcing security teams to manage data and alerts from multiple sources.

That has created demand for products that can exchange telemetry, align detection rules and streamline investigation processes. Vendors that secure email, data and collaboration tools are also seeking closer links with cloud-native monitoring and incident response systems.

Proofpoint said it serves more than 80 of the Fortune 100, more than 14,000 large enterprises and millions of smaller organisations. Its customer base gives it a sizeable foothold in sectors where email-borne attacks, insider risk and data protection concerns remain central issues for security teams.

The Google designation underlines Proofpoint's effort to expand an ecosystem of technology partnerships aimed at helping customers build interoperable security architectures and reduce risk. Its integrations supporting the Google Unified Security Recommended programme are available today.
