NTT DATA appoints Bhushan Patil as Head of TMT to drive growth

Wed, 13th Aug 2025

NTT DATA UK&I has appointed Bhushan Patil as Head of Telecom, Media and Technology (TMT), bringing over three decades of sector experience to the firm's leadership team.

Sector experience

Patil's appointment comes as NTT DATA UK&I increases its investment in the TMT sector, focusing on both key talent additions and broadening its market presence. He will be responsible for further developing the company's TMT capabilities and working more closely with clients tackling challenges such as modernising infrastructure, adopting artificial intelligence (AI), and transitioning towards cloud-native technology.

Patil began his career as a telecoms engineer at Siemens, before moving to Europe in 1999. Over his career, he has helped build and grow European practices for several organisations. His previous experience includes a 16-year tenure at a multinational IT services company, during which he contributed to expanding its operations beyond traditional IT, into such areas as networks, operations support systems (OSS), and 5G services for both telecom operators and large enterprises.

Market priorities

The company stated that hiring Patil is part of a strategic effort to address current industry demands. His remit includes strengthening engagement with clients facing "critical transformation challenges," which include the evolution of legacy infrastructure, managing the shift to AI, and supporting the movement towards cloud-based network solutions.

"NTT DATA has the credibility of managing a Tier 1 global operator alongside state-of-the-art infrastructure that not many providers can genuinely demonstrate. With operational experience of running the largest telco in a technologically-advanced nation like Japan, as well as a global footprint of 150+ data centres, NTT DATA is uniquely positioned to help operators and media houses through the next wave of AI-led transformation.

Bhushan added:

"As I join the organisation, I'm keen to bring sharper focus on our capabilities as a full-stack, full-service growth enabler in the TMT space, and to highlight our ability to deliver at scale, lead transformation, and partner strategically with the world's most ambitious TMT players."

Leadership statement

Niccolo Spataro, Chief Executive Officer at NTT DATA UK&I, welcomed Patil's arrival and commented on the strategic relevance of the appointment.

"We're pleased to be welcoming Bhushan to the NTT DATA leadership team. His technical depth and sector knowledge, combined with his passion for delivery, make him the ideal person to lead our next phase of growth in TMT. Bhushan's appointment reflects our investment in top-tier talent as we strengthen our position as a trusted, full-stack partner in the telecoms, media and technology space."
