Name.com extends domain tools to Netlify, Vercel, more

Wed, 7th Jan 2026

Name.com has struck new integration deals with cloud platforms Bolt, Netlify, Replit and Vercel, embedding domain search and registration directly into their development environments.

The arrangements extend an existing relationship with Netlify and add new links with Bolt, Replit and Vercel. The partners will use name.com's application programming interface for domain registration, search and configuration.

Name.com positions the API as a way for developers to secure and configure domains from inside their preferred tools. The integrations fold domain search, purchase and basic setup into workflows that previously required use of a separate registrar portal.

The company said traditional domain registration often interrupts development work. The new integrations aim at a shorter process between building an application and making it available on a custom domain.

Netlify, which provides a platform for web development and deployment, has worked with name.com for several years.

"Millions of domains have been published through Netlify with the name.com API, and it's been a steady part of how our users publish," said Mathias Biilmann, co-founder and CEO of Netlify. "The name.com team has consistently made the domain side of the workflow simpler. We're glad to keep building on a partnership that helps developers get their projects on the web with less friction."

Name.com said product and engineering teams can cut maintenance work and simplify infrastructure when they move domain operations closer to deployment tooling. The company links this change with commercial metrics such as conversion rates, customer lifetime value and operating costs.

Platform specifics

Bolt will integrate the name.com API into Bolt Cloud, which the company describes as a unified environment for building and scaling applications. Domains and hosting will sit alongside other elements such as databases and payments in Bolt's interface.

Netlify will continue to use name.com's API to offer domain registration inside its dashboard. Netlify users can search for and attach custom domains without switching to a separate registrar site.

Replit will embed name.com's services into its browser-based development environment. Users will be able to register and manage domains inside Replit projects, which shortens the time between writing code, securing a domain and deploying an application.

Vercel has rebuilt its domain system and selected name.com as its registrar. The revised architecture shows hundreds of domain results in a single view. It also increases performance for instant search and introduces pricing changes that Vercel said can cut costs by up to 50% on some high-demand top-level domains.

API focus

Name.com said the API has a design that emphasises what it calls developer experience and a future "agent experience". The company said the interface is intended to support rapid integration work and a range of different partner requirements.

The API uses the OpenAPI specification. Name.com said this choice creates a more predictable onboarding process for partner engineering teams.

Each partnership sits on a custom integration. Name.com said it builds specific features for particular platforms while keeping the underlying interface consistent.

The company described its registrar platform as "AI-ready" and said it supports new frameworks such as the Model Context Protocol. MCP is an emerging standard that defines how AI agents can interact with external tools and data sources.

Name.com said MCP support will let AI agents perform tasks that relate to domain services. These tasks include searching for domains, checking requirements, registering domains and triggering configuration changes.

Automation tools

The company has also released new features around automation and compliance. These include a zone checker tool, TLD requirements data and webhooks.

Zone checker validates domain zone settings. TLD requirements collates registration rules such as residency, identification or usage conditions. Webhooks push event data such as registration status updates into partner systems.

Name.com said these releases allow partners to automate more of the domain lifecycle and reduce manual checks. The tools also give platform providers more structured data on domain status and configuration.

Sammy Ahmed, VP and General Manager at name.com, said the company sees domain setup as an area that still creates friction for developers.

"We're focused on making domain management as effortless as possible," said Sammy Ahmed, VP and General Manager at name.com. "The name.com API and integration with these development platforms represent a major step toward that goal. By embedding our services directly into the tools developers use every day, we're helping innovators launch their ideas as quickly and effectively as possible."

Name.com said it plans further feature releases on the API and expects additional partners to integrate domain registration into developer workflows.
