Kick ICT names Steven Brown as new Chief Executive Officer

Mon, 19th Jan 2026

UK-based technology services provider Kick ICT has appointed Steven Brown as Chief Executive Officer, succeeding founder Tom O'Hara, who is entering a planned retirement.

Brown joins the firm following a series of senior leadership roles across the technology sector. His previous experience includes high-level positions at Telefónica Tech, Incremental Group, and Redspire.

In a statement, Kick ICT noted that Brown brings extensive expertise in building and leading high-performance teams, with a particular focus on customer-led growth strategies. The company also highlighted his comprehensive background spanning technology delivery, strategy, operations, customer service, and sales.

The business said Brown has 15 years of experience across Microsoft technologies. Kick ICT did not disclose further detail on his responsibilities beyond the Chief Executive role.

Kick ICT operates across managed IT services, cyber security, communications, cloud solutions and business applications. The group works with organisations in the private and public sectors and has its headquarters in Scotland, with teams supporting customers across the UK.

Leadership change

The appointment follows the planned retirement of O'Hara, who founded the company and has served as Chief Executive. Kick ICT said the change supports its focus on growth and long-term value creation. The company also pointed to a continued focus on staff.

Andrew Taylor, Chairman, Kick ICT Group, framed the hire as part of the company's next phase.

"Steven brings exactly the blend of leadership experience, sector knowledge and cultural fit we were looking for. He joins Kick at an exciting point in our journey, with strong momentum across the business and significant opportunities ahead. The Board is very much looking forward to working with him as we continue to build on our growth strategy," said Andrew Taylor, Chairman, Kick ICT Group.

Sector background

Brown has held roles at UK and international organisations, according to Kick ICT. Telefónica Tech operates as the digital business unit of Telefónica, with a focus on areas such as cloud, cyber security and data services. Incremental Group and Redspire operate in IT services and consulting, including work around Microsoft platforms.

Kick ICT positioned Brown's experience in that ecosystem as a fit with the company's service mix. Managed services and cyber security remain central lines of business for UK IT service providers. Many customers also continue to invest in cloud migration and business applications, alongside communications services and support.

Brown said he plans to spend time understanding the business and working with teams across the company.

"Kick has built a strong reputation for its people, its customer focus and its breadth of technology expertise. I am very much looking forward to joining the team, getting to know the business, and working with colleagues across the organisation to build upon the excellent foundations already in place," said Brown.

Kick ICT said Brown will take up the role on Monday, 2 February 2026.
