Genetec announces Security Center SaaS to revolutionise physical security industry
Fri, 23rd Feb 2024

Genetec, a technology provider of unified security, public safety, operations, and business intelligence solutions, revealed a major new offering, Security Center SaaS. This enterprise-grade solution, complete with cybersecurity and privacy provisions at its core, has the potential to redefine cloud-based physical security. By joining different aspects like access control, video management, intrusion monitoring, automation, and forensic search amongst numerous other advanced security capabilities, it looks to drive a revolution in the technology of the physical security industry.

Describing the current status of the physical security industry in Australia, New Zealand, and globally, Christian Morin, Vice President of Product Engineering and CSO at Genetec noted, "The industry has not been able to get cloud or software as a service quite right, especially for enterprise customers." He suggests that Security Center SaaS offers organisations an escape from the dilemma between all on-prem or all cloud. "The enterprise capabilities and open architecture of Security Center SaaS are designed to handle complex workloads where they make the most sense to be deployed, addressing a longstanding need of end users and filling a crucial market gap,” Morin commented.

The SaaS solution by Genetec, constructed to accommodate increasingly sophisticated deployments, is designed to empower security professionals without eroding the roles of trusted channel partners. "Current approaches to SaaS have undercut the role of channel partners, whom we see as central to customer and project success," noted George Moawad, Country Manager ANZ, Genetec. According to him, Security Center SaaS ensures a promising opportunity for systems integrators, delivering better margins and long-term customer satisfaction without necessitating additional resources or investment from partners.

Constructed to manage numerous sites' monitoring and management requirements, Security Center SaaS appears well-suited for a range of sectors including retail, education, banking, healthcare, corporate campuses, and government. As a deployment-agnostic platform, Security Center SaaS supports diversified configurations and offers organisations the ability to move components to the cloud as per their individual needs using a blend of cloud-native services and cloud-managed appliances.

Existing on-premises security devices and infrastructure can easily be connected to Security Center SaaS using Genetec's edge appliances. In terms of availability, Security Center SaaS will be accessible in Australia and New Zealand, as well as globally, from April 2024 via certified Genetec partners. The security solution will be offered with tiered subscription plans which are based on the number of device connections required.
