Forrester names Ververica a Leader in streaming data

Mon, 12th Jan 2026

Forrester has named Ververica as a Leader in its Q4 2025 assessment of streaming data platforms, placing the Apache Flink specialist among the highest-ranked providers in a market that targets real-time data processing for enterprise systems.

The analyst firm evaluated 15 vendors in The Forrester Wave: Streaming Data Platfroms, Q4 2025. Forrester assessed providers on the strength of their current offerings, strategy, and market presence.

Ververica said Forrester cited its Apache Flink core and its approach to real-time processing at scale. The company also pointed to Forrester commentary on analytics and resource optimisation for streaming workloads.

Streaming focus

Streaming data platforms have moved from specialist deployments into mainstream enterprise architecture. Many organisations now use streaming systems to process events from payment systems, digital channels, connected devices, and operational IT tools. These systems often feed downstream analytics and automated decision-making.

Forrester said streaming data platforms have become a key part of enterprise AI. The report described AI agents that rely on data flow across ingestion, transformation, and real-time insights. It also warned about bottlenecks and cascading errors when data pipelines fail to keep pace.

Ververica positions its product as a unified platform for stream processing. The company said it addresses the division between real-time and batch processing. It also highlighted the gap between development and production operations. Ververica also pointed to deployments across cloud and on-premises environments.

Product and engine

Ververica develops commercial software based on Apache Flink, the open-source stream processing framework. Ververica's founders created Flink and later formed the company around commercial offerings.

The company markets a Streaming Data Platform that uses its VERA engine. Ververica said the platform covers connecting data sources, processing and governance, and analysis. It also offers a choice of deployment models across public cloud, private cloud, and on-premises environments.

Forrester identified Ververica as a fit for enterprises that want to implement Apache Flink for advanced real-time processing and analytics. Ververica said the report also highlighted deployment options.

The company also said the report noted its focus on optimising Flink for performance and scalability. Ververica also drew attention to Forrester's references to high-throughput streaming requirements in organisations that handle large-scale event data.

Ververica said it supports on-premises, public cloud, and bring-your-own-cloud environments. The company described that as architectural optionality for customers.

Use cases

The market for streaming platforms often centres on workloads that require low-latency processing and continuous computation. Common examples include transaction monitoring, cyber security operations, user personalisation, and real-time operational visibility across manufacturing and logistics.

Ververica cited mission-critical workloads such as fraud detection and AI decisioning. It also referenced security operations. The company said these areas place demands on both throughput and operational efficiency.

"Forrester specifically recognized our 'robust Apache Flink core' and 'superior real-time data processing, analytics and resource optimization'," said Vladimir Jandreski, Chief Product Officer, Ververica. "The VERA engine's architectural innovations deliver industry-leading throughput and efficiency, proving that open-source foundations combined with commercial innovation provide the performance enterprises demand for mission-critical workloads like fraud detection, security operations, and AI decisioning."

Customer base

Ververica said reference customers cited robust Apache Flink integration and efficient handling of large-scale, real-time data workloads. The company also said it serves organisations across financial services, telecommunications, manufacturing, retail, and technology.

The Forrester Wave report format often influences procurement shortlists in large organisations. Vendors track Wave positioning closely, particularly in markets where offerings share core open-source components and differentiation often centres on operational tooling, deployment flexibility, and support models.

In streaming data, vendor claims frequently focus on scaling, reliability, and operational management. They also focus on how teams move workloads from development into production and how systems behave under variable traffic patterns.

Ververica said its platform strategy targets those concerns through a single product line based on Flink and its own engine development. The company said enterprises increasingly treat streaming platforms as core infrastructure for real-time processing as more applications depend on continuous data flows.
