Firewalla has released version 2.10.2 of its Managed Security Portal, adding AI-based security analysis and expanded monitoring for users managing Firewalla devices.

The software is aimed at small businesses, IT consultants and managed service providers that use the web-based portal to monitor multiple devices from a single interface. The latest version also introduces a revised experience for customers managing a single device.

One of the main changes is an update to MSP Active Protect, which now uses Firewalla AI to assess alarms, classify threats by risk level and suggest actions for administrators. The tool is intended to reduce false positives and improve analysis of suspicious connections and broader network behaviour patterns.

The release also adds scheduled alarm and event summary emails with AI-generated highlights. These digests cover issues including critical threats, VPN problems, connectivity changes and the appearance of new devices on a network.

For single-device users, Firewalla has introduced a single-box interface designed to provide quicker access to performance monitoring, Wi-Fi, VPN, networks and security controls without requiring users to move through several sections of the portal.

Dashboard visibility has also been expanded for those users. New widgets show WAN throughput, CPU usage and memory usage on the main dashboard, giving administrators a more immediate view of system status.

In a further change to the product line, Firewalla has folded My Firewalla, its free web interface, into a new portal called MSP Lite. The combined service includes a refreshed interface, email authentication and support for two-factor authentication.

Administrators on business plans can now grant permanent or limited mobile access from within MSP, a change intended to simplify user onboarding and remote access management.

Users can also import supported target lists from Firewalla's public GitHub repository, expanding blocklist management and customisation options within the portal.

Alert handling

The update places particular emphasis on filtering and interpreting network activity. A new "Matched By" filter has been added to improve flow visibility across allow, block, time-limit and disturbance rules, while the AI tools have been extended to analyse network events and performance data.

Several plan limits have also been raised. Professional plans now support VPN Mesh deployments with up to 10 boxes per mesh, while Professional and Business plans can use up to 100 target lists. Report export limits have also increased, and visibility for alarms, events and performance data has been extended to 180 days on supported plans.

Other additions include IPv6 support in device tables and API support for rule creation. Version 2.10.2 works with Firewalla appliances supported by MSP, including the Gold, Orange, Purple and Blue Plus lines.

Firewalla, founded in 2016, sells cybersecurity and network management products to small businesses and professional users. Its products are used in more than 100 countries.

Jerry Chen, co-founder of Firewalla, linked the release to the growing burden on lean IT teams.

"MSP 2.10.2 takes Firewalla AI further by helping teams cut through alert noise and focus on what truly matters," Chen said.

"We're delivering deeper behavioral insights while giving operators better visibility into both security events and device health."
