emma adds IONOS to multi-cloud platform for Europe

Wed, 14th Jan 2026

Multi-cloud management platform emma has integrated IONOS Cloud Infrastructure, offering European organisations access to IONOS services through emma's platform.

The companies positioned the integration around demand in Europe for cloud deployments that align with sovereignty and compliance expectations. emma said customers can use its tools to manage environments that span multiple cloud providers, including IONOS.

Platform access

emma describes itself as a multi-cloud management platform. The company said the IONOS integration sits inside emma's end-to-end platform. It said customers can use the same interface to provision and manage IONOS resources alongside other infrastructure-as-a-service environments.

IONOS operates as a hosting and cloud provider with a focus on small and medium-sized businesses. The company said it has more than 6.4 million customers and operates across 18 markets in Europe and North America.

Sovereignty focus

The partnership centres on sovereign cloud messaging, which has gained prominence as European organisations assess data residency, supplier risk, and regulatory exposure across cloud estates. The companies said the integration provides a European cloud option through emma.

IONOS said European companies often start with multi-cloud strategies when they seek alternatives to hyperscalers. "Multi-cloud strategies are a first step for European companies to use sovereign alternatives to hyperscalers. emma shares our European values and stands for digital sovereignty. Our leading and secure cloud infrastructure, together with their powerful cloud management platform, offers businesses more choice and helps them strengthen their digital future," said Achim Weiss, Chief Executive Officer, IONOS.

Cost and governance

emma and IONOS said the integration addresses fragmentation across cloud environments. They described the combination as a single option for deploying and managing infrastructure across providers. They said users can manage complex multi-cloud environments, including hyperscalers and other IaaS providers, through emma.

The companies also highlighted cost management. They said the platform provides transparent usage information and resource optimisation. They linked that to operating cost reductions and cost control, while presenting it as part of a broader governance approach.

IONOS and emma framed the integration around European standards and compliance concerns. They said the combined offering targets "international compliance risks" and includes "full security and sovereignty". They did not specify particular regulatory frameworks, sector certifications, or technical controls.

Executive comments

emma Founder and Chief Executive Officer Dmitry Panenkov set out how the company views its role in cloud operations and finance visibility.

"At emma, we're not just redefining how organisations operate in the cloud - we're putting them back in control. With IONOS, we're bringing an exceptional European cloud to the emma platform, giving teams a sovereign, cost-transparent, and production-ready option they can spin up, scale, and integrate in minutes with effortless management, seamless multi-cloud integration, and uncompromising visibility into the financial performance of their entire cloud estate," said Dmitry Panenkov, Founder and CEO, emma.

Weiss said the deal links IONOS infrastructure with emma's software layer and places the companies in what he described as a growing European multi-cloud ecosystem.

Company background

emma was founded in 2021 in Luxembourg. The company said it focuses on connecting cloud providers and environments under a single operational view. It also said it targets reductions in lock-in and waste through orchestration, optimisation, and connectivity features.

IONOS said its product portfolio spans domains, web hosting, website building tools, eCommerce, and online marketing services. It also offers cloud services for businesses shifting workloads to cloud environments as they grow.

The companies said the integration expands IONOS participation in multi-cloud deployments and adds another infrastructure option inside emma for European organisations planning future cloud architecture changes.
