EfficiencyIT has appointed Giles Pattison as Business Transformation Director, adding a senior executive as the company expands its modular data centre business in the UK and Europe.
Pattison joins the UK-founded company with more than 20 years of commercial leadership experience, much of it at Schneider Electric. Most recently, he was Data Centre Commercial Operations and Strategy Director for Europe, overseeing commercial revenue and sales operations for the company's European channel business and managing senior leaders across several markets.
The newly created role is intended to help EfficiencyIT's founders scale the business, develop long-term strategy and refine internal processes as the company grows in prefabricated and modular data centres.
The appointment comes as demand rises for infrastructure that can be deployed quickly to support artificial intelligence workloads and higher-density computing. EfficiencyIT is seeing growth in this part of the market and is expanding its operations while aiming to maintain service standards for customers in enterprise, government, life sciences and other mission-critical sectors.
Growth plans
EfficiencyIT focuses on prefabricated modular data centres, as well as IT and critical communications environments. The latest hire strengthens its senior leadership team at a time when customers are seeking more scalable infrastructure options across the UK and Europe.
Pattison's background spans sales strategy, marketing operations and commercial transformation across data centres, channel operations and digital infrastructure. At Schneider Electric, he was part of the IT channel leadership team and led integrated commercial operations for the European channel business.
Managing Director Nick Ewing linked the appointment to EfficiencyIT's broader expansion plans in data centres and AI-related infrastructure.
"Giles' appointment is a significant moment as we continue to scale the business and unlock new opportunities for our customers across the UK and Europe, particularly in the AI and data centre spaces," said Ewing.
"His commercial acumen, leadership approach and understanding of how complex organisations function will be instrumental in helping us release capacity, sharpen our long-term strategy and ensure that we continue to deliver an exceptionally high standard of service as we grow."
Sector demand
Modular and prefabricated data centres have drawn growing interest from operators and customers seeking faster deployment than traditional builds can offer. The sector has also benefited from pressure on computing infrastructure as artificial intelligence applications require more processing capacity and supporting systems.
Pattison's appointment is part of a strategy to invest in senior leadership as EfficiencyIT's project pipeline grows. The company has positioned itself around modular facilities and related infrastructure for customers with demanding operational requirements.
It also highlighted its customer base across enterprise and public sector organisations, alongside operators in environments where resilience and continuity are critical. That mix has helped shape the company's focus on process, scale and service as it expands.
Pattison said EfficiencyIT had established a strong position in the market and that the wider modular data centre sector was entering a period of opportunity.
"EfficiencyIT's leadership team has built genuine credibility in the data centre market, and the business has earned its reputation through impeccable service to a growing client base of enterprise and mission-critical customers. This is an exciting time for the modular data centre industry. Speed to market, scalability and best-in-class technology will unlock the potential of AI infrastructure, and EfficiencyIT is well placed to support that growth. I am a firm believer in the power of the partner ecosystem, and I am looking forward to working with the team to help shape the next chapter," said Pattison.
The hire gives EfficiencyIT additional senior management experience from a large multinational supplier as it builds its presence in a market shaped by AI demand, faster deployment requirements and growing customer scrutiny of service delivery.
