Digital Workforce has appointed Antti Karjalainen as its new Chief Technology Officer to lead advancements in enterprise AI agent technology.

Karjalainen joins Digital Workforce from Sema4.ai, where he was a co-founder involved in developing generative AI agents for enterprise clients and the open-source sector. His new role is part of Digital Workforce's strategic "Agentic AI Workforce" initiative.

"Antti is a business-oriented, visionary tech leader and builder of successful growth companies and teams that pursue ambitious missions. He will play a key role in growing our Agentic Workforce business, leading our technology strategy, and collaborating with technology partners," said Jussi Vasama, CEO of Digital Workforce.

He brings more than 15 years of experience in the technology sector, including as a founder and CEO of Robocorp, a company focused on open-source Robotic Process Automation technology. His appointment signals strengthened ties between Digital Workforce and Sema4.ai, supporting their recent partnership expansion to market AI Agents internationally.

Under this collaboration, Digital Workforce will act as Sema4.ai's exclusive reseller in Nordic regions and as a preferred partner in the UK and Ireland, providing training, support, and AI agent solutions globally.

Antti Karjalainen remarked on the significance of the upcoming year for AI agents' advancements, stating, "The year 2025 is the breakthrough year for AI agents. As an established and renowned automation leader, Digital Workforce has the unique opportunity to shape this market." He highlighted the company's focus on delivering enhanced customer value through a combination of long-standing customer relationships and cutting-edge GenAI technology.

Karjalainen's deep expertise in AI will be crucial for Digital Workforce's objectives in shaping the future of AI and automation. "AI opens up new markets to software — markets that were previously human labour markets are becoming software markets. With agents transforming how tech-enabled services are delivered, we're seeing companies that are starting to hire AI knowledge workers to work alongside human employees," he added.
