DigiCert appoints Christian Stanford to lead EMEA partners

Wed, 11th Feb 2026

DigiCert has appointed Christian Stanford as Regional Vice President of Partners in EMEA, adding a senior channel leader as it targets partner-led growth across Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Stanford will lead DigiCert's EMEA partner strategy, a move the company ties to rising security and compliance demands in the region's more heavily regulated markets.

He brings more than 20 years of experience in enterprise cybersecurity and technology, with senior channel roles at Illusive, Bitdefender, RSA, Citrix and McAfee.

The appointment comes as identity, trust services and certificate management remain central for organisations managing security controls and audit requirements. Large enterprises and public sector bodies in EMEA are placing greater emphasis on resilience and supply chain risk, while technology providers face increased scrutiny over authentication, encryption and the integrity of digital services.

DigiCert operates in the digital trust market, focusing on Public Key Infrastructure and digital certificates used for encrypted communications and authentication. These products underpin common security tasks such as securing websites, signing software, protecting connected devices and managing certificate renewals. Investment in certificate lifecycle management has increased following high-profile outages linked to expired certificates and weak operational processes.

Partner focus

Channel partners remain a key route to market for security vendors in EMEA. Many buyers source certificates, managed PKI and related services through systems integrators, managed service providers and resellers. Partners also shape technology choices as organisations modernise networks, migrate applications to cloud platforms, or roll out identity controls across distributed workforces.

Stanford will work closely with partners across the region, focusing on customer requirements for trust, identity and security. DigiCert also pointed to regulatory pressure shaping demand, with sectors such as financial services, healthcare, energy and critical national infrastructure facing tighter rules on cyber risk management and reporting.

Paul Holt, Group Vice President of EMEA at DigiCert, linked the hire to customer expectations around security and compliance.

"Partners play a key role in helping organisations establish trust at scale," said Paul Holt, Group Vice President of EMEA at DigiCert. "Christian's experience, combined with his deep understanding of the EMEA partner community, will be invaluable as we continue to support customers facing rising security, resilience, and compliance expectations."

Trust agenda

Digital trust now spans certificate issuance, identity verification and security controls for software and devices. Many organisations manage large numbers of certificates across hybrid environments, including on-premise systems, public cloud services and operational technology networks. This has raised the operational importance of inventory, renewal processes and policy enforcement.

DigiCert markets the DigiCert ONE platform, which it says unifies PKI, DNS and certificate lifecycle management, and includes AI capabilities. Vendors in this segment are emphasising automation and policy tooling as certificate lifecycles shorten and the number of endpoints grows.

Stanford said DigiCert's direction and channel approach influenced his decision to join.

His background includes working with vendors across endpoint security, identity and access, and infrastructure software. Channel leadership roles in these areas typically involve building partner programmes, managing distribution relationships and aligning go-to-market plans with service providers and integrators.

In a statement, Stanford linked the role to demand among regulated organisations.

"Digital trust is becoming foundational for organisations operating in complex and regulated environments," said Christian Stanford, Regional Vice President of Partners in EMEA, DigiCert. "DigiCert's vision for partner first culture and market leadership strongly align with my passion for building high performing channel organisations, and I look forward to leading the EMEA channel business to drive growth and deepen customer trust across the region".

DigiCert said it works with more than 100,000 organisations, including 90% of the Fortune 500. Stanford will lead the EMEA partner strategy as the company expands channel activity across a buying environment increasingly shaped by security, resilience and compliance requirements.
