Diamond Logistics has upgraded its Despatchlab platform with new artificial intelligence features, adding custom dashboards and a conversational AI tool to its logistics software.

The update affects Despatchlab, Diamond's in-house system for combining fulfilment, multi-carrier shipping and warehouse management in one platform. The latest version is intended to give users faster access to operational data and reduce the need for manual reporting.

At the centre of the update are dashboards users can tailor to their own priorities. Businesses can create views around stock levels, order volumes, delivery performance and customer activity, rather than relying on a standard reporting layout.

The change reflects a broader shift among logistics software providers towards role-based data access, with warehouse teams, customer service staff and business owners each seeing a different operational picture. For Diamond, the goal is to make day-to-day information easier to read and act on.

Diamond has also introduced what it calls Agentic AI into the platform. Rather than requiring users to build reports through standard reporting tools, the system is being developed so staff can ask questions in plain English and receive dashboards, reports and data-led recommendations in response.

Kate Lester, Chief Executive Officer and Founder of Diamond Logistics, gave an example of how the tool is intended to work.

"For example, a business owner could say: show me the stock levels and order volumes for our top ten products over the last twelve months, add trend lines, and recommend replenishment quantities for the next six months. Within moments, the agent can generate visual dashboards, bespoke reports and actionable insights, helping to turn raw operational data into information businesses can use. Ultimately, it's about removing the barriers between users and their data, making it easier for everyone to access the information they need, regardless of their technical ability," Lester said.

The AI agent is in advanced testing and is due for release later this year.

Model mix

Diamond has built the new functions on scalable architecture and is using more than one large language model in the platform. The dashboard builder uses Claude Opus, while the conversational AI functions are being developed and tested with OpenAI technology.

That multi-model approach is increasingly common among software developers seeking to match different AI tools to specific tasks rather than committing all functions to a single provider. It can also give vendors more freedom to change or expand systems as products evolve.

For Diamond, the software sits at the centre of its offer to customers that need fulfilment and distribution support. By combining warehouse management and shipping tools with reporting and automation, the company is seeking to deepen Despatchlab's role in clients' daily operations.

The latest changes also form part of a wider internal push on AI. Earlier this year, Diamond launched an AI Apprenticeship Programme bringing together staff from different departments to examine practical uses for the technology across the business.

The work is intended to focus on operational problems and process improvements rather than experimentation without a defined use case. In logistics, where margins are often tight and service levels are closely measured, software changes tend to be judged on whether they reduce delays, improve stock accuracy or cut administration.

Lester said the investment in Despatchlab has been part of a long-running strategy for the business.

"Technology should simplify logistics, not complicate it. We've continually invested heavily in Despatchlab year on year because we believe the right technology gives people the ability to make better decisions, deliver better service and grow their businesses.

These latest developments take us to a whole new level, moving us beyond traditional reporting. Instead of searching through data, our customers can simply ask a question and receive meaningful answers in seconds. It is a real-life concept that's incredibly powerful, and it's only the beginning of what Agentic AI will deliver within Despatchlab.

As we continue to invest in AI and automation, we remain focused on one core principle: creating technology that gives businesses more time to focus on their day-to-day operations while Despatchlab handles the complexity behind the scenes. We're passionate about pursuing that goal and continuing to develop our own in-house technology that genuinely supports businesses rather than creating more challenges for them to manage. We believe we're well on that journey and are excited about what comes next," Lester said.
