Cloudinary launches global Creators Community for devs
Cloudinary has launched a developer-focused Creators Community that combines free training, hands-on project work, certifications, and a collaborative online space.
The community is aimed at developers working with images and video across web and app products. It offers courses, practical projects, and a path to certification. Through partnerships with five international nonprofits, Cloudinary will also deliver training via cohorts and bootcamps.
The programme's first course, Cloud to Crowd, includes a curriculum titled "Media IQ for Developers with Next.js". It focuses on building and optimising visual media in software projects.
Nonprofit partners
The Creators Community launches with five founding nonprofit partners across Africa, Asia, Europe, and the US. Each partner plans to deliver training through its existing community structure, including cohorts and bootcamps.
Developers in Vogue in Ghana is among the first partners and focuses on building a community of African women interested in technology. GirlScript in India is also taking part. It began as an effort to broaden access to education and now reports a community of more than 500,000 learners.
Europe is represented by Hack Your Future in Denmark, a learning programme for asylum seekers, refugees, and others who face barriers in the Danish education system and job market. Two US-based groups are also involved: Tampa Devs, a nonprofit community for software developers in the Tampa Bay area, and Vets Who Code, which provides free technical training to veterans.
Cloudinary expects the nonprofit partnerships to extend the community's reach and bring in developers from different backgrounds. It also described the approach as a way to deliver structured training at scale through established networks.
Training format
The programme combines structured learning with community activity. Participants receive access to a dedicated Discord space, with expert webinars and group discussions.
Members can also collaborate on open-source projects and review use cases drawn from live deployments. Cloudinary said the programme includes mentorship and guidance on building portfolios.
Jen Looper, Director of Developer Relations at Cloudinary, said the initiative is skills-focused rather than promotional.
"The Cloudinary Creators Community is a practical learning environment, not a marketing initiative," Looper said.
She also highlighted its focus on complex image and video workflows.
"It offers members the opportunity to acquire valuable skills for tackling complex, high-volume image and video management challenges. These skills are essential in today's visual economy and give participants the practical expertise to help them advance their careers, no matter where they are based," Looper said.
Education gaps
GirlScript Foundation said the collaboration responds to a gap in developer education around media-focused software building blocks.
"We're excited to be one of the first nonprofits from India to collaborate with Cloudinary on this initiative," said Anubha Maneshwar, Founding Director of GirlScript Foundation.
"Media APIs and developer-first infrastructure are incredibly powerful yet underrepresented in education, and this partnership helps us bring these skills to a wider community of creators and developers. At GirlScript Foundation, we believe in opening up access to niche, high-impact technologies. Partnering with Cloudinary allows us to empower creators and developers in an area that's rarely taught, but deeply essential in today's digital products," Maneshwar said.
How to join
Developers can join through any of the five nonprofit partners as part of an inaugural cohort. Individuals can also apply directly after completing the Cloud to Crowd course and earning a certificate; applications are submitted at the end of the course.
Cloudinary described the Creators Community as open to developers, designers, and builders who want to improve how they handle visual media in digital products. It plans ongoing Discord-based activities, including webinars and short hack events.
Cloudinary also plans to add more affiliated nonprofits over time as the programme expands.
