Buildkite secures strategic collaboration with AWS
Australian company Buildkite has secured a multi-year strategic collaboration agreement (SCA) with Amazon Web Services (AWS). The agreement, unveiled at the AWS Summit in Sydney, aims to expedite the delivery of cloud-native applications, which could significantly impact multiple industries such as digital native, financial services, and retail in addition to enterprises currently undergoing digital transformation.
As part of the collaboration, Buildkite will work alongside AWS to market and sell their shared DevOps platform to customers within the regions of North America, EMEA, and APAC. Significantly, Buildkite's DevOps platform will be made available for immediate use through the AWS Marketplace.
The DevOps movement aims to boost the efficiency, speed, and security of software development and delivery by marrying the concepts of development (Dev) and operations (Ops). According to Gartner, by 2027, 75% of organisations are likely to have shifted from multiple point solutions to DevOps platforms, thereby streamlining application delivery. Notably, Buildkite's DevOps platform is already employed by more than 1,000 organisations worldwide, Uber, Pinterest, and Wix among them.
With this SCA, Buildkite and AWS intend to work with software and digital businesses to expedite modern application development and offer customers superior control of software release processes and automated tools. Buildkite will also turn its attention to financial services customers, aiding with DevOps transformation and security, and aiming to help these enterprises launch their products swiftly and securely. Furthermore, retail enterprises will be targeted to drive DevOps adoption, furnishing them with scalable and customisable pipelines along with advanced monitoring and insights, thereby streamlining their route to market.
Keith Pitt, Founder and CEO of Buildkite, detailed the strategic alignment with AWS, stating, "This collaboration with AWS reaffirms our commitment to revolutionizing the way engineers develop, test, and deploy code.". Adding, "With AWS, we are paving the way for an efficient and reliable software development lifecycle, helping unblock every developer's workflow."
Sarah Bassett, ANZ Head of Independent Software Vendors (ISV) at AWS, acknowledged the constructive partnership with Buildkite, stating, "Through our partnership with Buildkite, software-driven businesses everywhere can remove the friction from delivering innovative, new services using modern cloud-native architectures. This will enable companies to launch products to market faster and more securely, while also providing scalable and easily configurable build, test, package and deploy solutions for enterprise-scale deployments."
Buildkite's platform is forecasted to allow users to reduce the time between software build, test, and deployment by up to 75% and minimise compute costs by up to 50%. The collaboration agreement with AWS aims to support Buildkite's global expansion while maintaining the capacity to adapt and grow according to customer needs.
