Appian launches new version with AI-powered enhancements
Appian has announced the release of the latest version of its Appian Platform, introducing enhanced capabilities designed to improve scalability, speed, and performance for enterprise applications.
The new release, Appian 25.1, incorporates an increase in document processing capacity supported by artificial intelligence, centralised dashboards for monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs), and the ability to synchronise up to 10 million rows per record type in an organisation's data fabric. The enhancements are intended to support greater scalability and ensure efficient data handling.
The improved AI architecture allows organisations to classify or extract data from hundreds of millions of pages annually. Applications that manage high document volumes are expected to experience fewer delays and bottlenecks, with the platform capable of processing up to 75 times more documents per hour.
Rob Turverey, Director of Learning and Delivery at Groundswell, commented, "The results we experienced in the beta program exceeded our expectations. We were hoping it would be 50% faster and were excited to see a 5x improvement! We believe these performance improvements will have a big impact on our customers."
The data fabric architecture within Appian 25.1 has been enhanced to support greater scalability and performance, which includes improvements to Appian sites and applications. Data fabric enhancements tested during the beta program showed 5–10 times faster performance for complex queries against record types, with the potential for some queries to be up to 40 times faster.
Michael D'Itri, Manager of Wireless DevOps Data & Tools at TELUS, stated, "We participated in the beta program for these new data fabric enhancements to evaluate the performance of our high-volume datasets with data fabric insights. We were really happy with the performance and as a result, we are committed to investing further in the Appian data fabric capabilities this year."
Security in the platform has been enriched with new field-level security configurations that offer enhanced control and compliance, complementing the existing record-level security settings within applications and Process HQ.
Also included in Appian 25.1 are features enabling users to incorporate KPIs for processes directly into dashboards, centralising data from both process insights and data fabric insights. These KPIs can be easily added using a drag-and-drop feature, linking each KPI directly to a process for swift navigation.
Michael Beckley, Chief Technology Officer and Founder of Appian, explained the significance of AI in the platform, stating, "Making AI valuable requires injecting it into business processes. Appian 25.1 makes AI valuable by combining large language models with Appian's class-leading autoscale process engine and Appian's unique data fabric."
Beckley further described the data fabric capabilities, "Data fabrics are increasingly the preferred data plane in companies' AI stacks, but most are optimised for read-only access and don't scale well for writes beyond 2,000 rows per record. For Appian 25.1, Appian's data fabric natively reads and writes 10 million rows per record, enabling AI to be reliably injected into mission-critical processes in all industries."
