Amplitude expands AI tools with MCP server & agents beta launch

Mon, 27th Oct 2025

Amplitude has announced the launch of its Model Context Protocol (MCP) server and the expansion of its AI Agents beta programme to all of its customers.

The Amplitude MCP enables organisations to integrate trusted behavioural data into AI tools such as Claude, Cursor, and any other MCP-enabled client. This integration allows teams to pose questions in plain language, like "What features drove the most retention this month?", and receive answers powered by live, up-to-date Amplitude data.

The implementation of Amplitude MCP aims to make behavioural data directly available within the AI environments teams already use, reducing the time spent switching between multiple tools. According to the company, it also supports the automatic detection of product issues and brings complex analysis within reach for a larger group within any organisation, accelerating the surfacing of growth opportunities.

Additionally, Amplitude's AI Agents, previously available in a limited beta, are now being offered to all customers. These agents assist teams with monitoring product data, detecting anomalies, and surfacing actionable insights without requiring users to navigate through dashboards.

Wade Chambers, Chief Engineering Officer at Amplitude, said,

"Behavioural context is one of the most critical inputs behind every great product and digital experience. The problem is, AI tools are only as good as the context they leverage."
"Amplitude already captures and organises behavioural data across the full user journey. So by extending this into MCP-enabled environments like Claude, we're giving AI direct, governed access to that data. This makes the context instantly available and marks a major step toward the insights-to-actions loop becoming automatic."

Customers such as Zip report significant improvements following the MCP implementation. Moss Pauly, Technical Product Manager for Data & AI at Zip, commented,

"Amplitude's MCP is a real game-changer. We've been able to embed our internal domain knowledge-how certain events are used to drive complex analysis-directly into an LLM's context and have it interact seamlessly with Amplitude. It's opening up access to cross-domain insights that previously only a few specialists could uncover. It's a genuine step change in democratising data across the organisation."

AI Agents open beta

Following a limited launch in June, Amplitude's AI Agents are now available to the wider customer base. The suite currently comprises two agents: the Dashboard Agent and the Session Replay Agent.

The Dashboard Agent can automatically analyse dashboards and summarise significant changes in trends, metrics, and operational issues. It helps to identify and highlight shifts that merit immediate consideration, performs root-cause analysis to pinpoint the sources of change, and enables users to follow up through natural language queries, generating new charts and answers as needed. Insights are distributed directly within Amplitude or via platforms such as Slack and email.

The Session Replay Agent conducts qualitative analysis of session replays across funnels or event pathways, surfacing behavioural patterns, drop-offs, and indicators such as rage clicks, dead clicks, and user errors. Each insight generated is backed by a curated playlist of relevant session replays, helping teams conduct faster investigations. Similar to the Dashboard Agent, insights are proactively shared across communication channels.

Availability and expansion

The Amplitude MCP is now available to all current customers. The AI Agents open beta will be accessible over the coming week, and Amplitude plans to introduce additional capabilities and more comprehensive MCP integration in the following months.
