Academia reports robust FY2025 growth with GBP £138 million turnover
Academia Technology Group has shared its financial results for FY2025, reporting double-digit growth in a challenging market and outlining its strategic vision for 2026.
Financial performance
The company posted a turnover of GBP £138 million for FY2025, reflecting overall robust growth. Notably, revenues from Managed Services surged by 42% year-on-year, which Academia attributes to increased demand from clients across its target sectors.
In addition to organic growth, Academia completed the acquisition of Smartdesc during the period, a move designed to broaden its expertise and expand its reach in the managed services and IT lifecycle management sectors.
Lifecycle services focus
Academia's Lifecycle Services Division remains central to its operational model, offering clients secure, sustainable, and fully managed IT asset lifecycle management solutions. This division aims to support clients in achieving compliance, data security and environmental targets, while maintaining operational efficiency.
The company emphasises the increasing importance of lifecycle services as customers seek support in achieving both their sustainability and regulatory compliance objectives.
People and culture
"Our long-serving, established team is the cornerstone of our success," said Andrew Harman, Owner, Academia. "Their expertise, loyalty and continuity have been critical to driving our growth and shaping the strong business we are today". He continues "And they will play a vital role as we deliver our Vision for 2026."
Academia reports a continued emphasis on fostering a people-first culture, with a focus on collaboration and personal growth. The firm has onboarded seven new apprentices as part of its Academy FY26 programme to support talent development within the technology sector.
Strategic priorities for 2026
Looking to the future, the company has articulated six main strategic priorities: scaling growth in key areas to improve annual recurring revenue, deepening client relationships using what it describes as a "less is more" philosophy, maintaining a customer-centric approach, accelerating the expansion of managed services with an emphasis on strengthening cyber capabilities, increasing process automation across the group, and making further strategic acquisitions to extend its market presence.
Mark McCormack, Managing Director of Academia, commented: "Our Vision for 2026 is clear – scale where it matters, deepen client relationships, and lead the way in managed services and cyber capability. With automation and smart acquisitions, we're building a business that continues to deliver value for our people, clients and stakeholders."
Within this framework, the company believes that focusing on automation and efficiency will enhance the delivery and quality of its managed services. At the same time, carefully targeted mergers and acquisitions, such as the integration of Smartdesc, will open up new growth avenues.
Owner's perspective
Andrew Harman, Owner of Academia, added: "I'm thrilled with how we've performed this year. In a challenging market, we've bucked the trend and continued strong, organic growth. With the recent acquisition of Smartdesc, we are now starting to see the benefits of their services into the customer base. The future ahead, continues to look positive, with more strategic acquisitions on the horizon, further investment in our people, services and innovation."
Academia employs 300 staff members and continues to serve customers in Education, Public Sector and Business organisations throughout the UK. The company indicates it remains committed to ongoing investment in its workforce, services and capabilities as it looks ahead to FY2026 and beyond.
