Vertiv expands Liebert GXT5 Lithium-Ion UPS system offering
Vertiv, a global digital infrastructure and continuity solutions provider, has announced the expansion of the Vertiv Liebert GXT5 Lithium-Ion double-conversion, uninterruptible power supply (UPS) system. The Liebert GXT5 Lithium-Ion models' new addition will extend to include 5kVA to 10kVA Global Voltage (GV) models for applications. This development further solidifies the Lierbert GXT5 Lithium-Ion product line, which enhances the effectiveness of Vertiv's lithium-ion UPS systems solutions designed specifically for network edge usage.
Vertiv has commenced the acceptance of orders for these new 5-10kVA GV models, serving the regions of Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) from their current stocks. The Liebert GXT5 Lithium-Ion models are ideally suited for smaller spaces typical of the network edge. These models come in a convertible rack/tower design with a 3U (5kVA to 10kVA UPS) rack height. Also included is an integrated maintenance bypass cabinet that supplements the rack U-space. The Liebert GXT5 Lithium-Ion UPS systems come with a five-year limited warranty.
The high power density of lithium-ion batteries has enabled Vertiv to provide more runtime in less space compared with typical UPS with valve-regulated lead acid (VRLA) batteries. With improved performance at higher operating temperatures and an extended life expectancy, the lithium-ion batteries in the Liebert GXT5 Lithium-Ion significantly reduce the total cost of ownership by up to 50% when compared to VRLA solutions. Additionally, lithium-ion batteries typically outlast VRLA batteries lasting eight to 10 years compared to three to five years, hence reducing or even eliminating the cost and inconvenience of battery replacements during the UPS lifespan.
Karsten Winther, President of Vertiv in the EMEA region, said, "With this expanded offering, Vertiv is poised to capitalise on the expected rapid growth of lithium-ion batteries. The Liebert GXT5 Lithium-Ion UPS offers compactness, versatility, and low maintenance, presenting an efficient solution perfectly suited for remote sites with minimal on-site technical support."
Research by Omdia reveals that lithium-ion battery adoption for UPS in data centres is anticipated to continue its rapid growth, with expectations to dominate the UPS battery market by capturing 65% of global revenue by the year 2030.
Vertiv's expansion of the Liebert GXT5 Lithium-Ion UPS system underscores its commitment to providing efficient, reliable, and space-saving solutions for the evolving demands of digital infrastructure. With the introduction of 5-10kVA GV models, Vertiv addresses the specific needs of network edge applications in the EMEA region, offering enhanced performance, versatility, and a lower total cost of ownership.
As lithium-ion battery adoption continues to surge, driven by improved performance and longevity factors, Vertiv is well-positioned to meet the growing demand and capitalise on the projected growth in the UPS battery market. Through innovations like the Liebert GXT5 Lithium-Ion UPS, Vertiv remains at the forefront of empowering businesses with resilient and sustainable digital infrastructure solutions.
