Tribepad launches AI tool to boost fairness & trust in hiring
Tribepad has launched Sidekick, an artificial intelligence-enabled tool designed to improve fairness, transparency, and efficiency in recruitment processes. The new feature comes as fresh research indicates that mistrust remains a significant barrier in candidate perceptions of hiring fairness.
Recruitment challenges
Recent data collected by Tribepad suggests that 61% of candidates believe the term "cultural fit" is often cited to justify unfair hiring decisions. Additionally, while 80% say they trust human recruiters more than artificial intelligence, over a third do not trust either entirely. This highlights deep-rooted scepticism around the recruitment landscape, particularly regarding equitable hiring practices.
Tribepad says Sidekick is built to address these challenges by equipping recruitment teams and hiring managers to handle large volumes of applications more effectively, while standardising the review process.
"Our research shows candidates are losing faith in fairness, and efficiency is a growing challenge too. With some roles seeing hundreds of applicants, recruiters are spending huge amounts of time reviewing CVs or creating shortlists from only a fraction of the candidates, potentially missing out on great people. Sidekick can score every application in seconds, making the process faster, fairer, and less risky, while leaving final decisions where they belong: with skilled human recruiters," said Neil Armstrong, Chief Executive Officer at Tribepad.
AI-powered features
Sidekick offers a suite of AI-driven capabilities designed to enhance transparency and deliver practical outcomes for both recruiters and job seekers. The platform reviews each application using consistent criteria, aiming to minimise the risk of well-matched candidates being overlooked during initial screening phases.
Among its features, Sidekick offers salary benchmarking based on role and location, skill generation with recruiter-assigned weighting, automated job advert drafting with embedded bias detection, and individual candidate scoring on job-relevant criteria. The application also allows recruiters to conduct question-led searches, enabling more targeted queries through natural language input.
The tool identifies strengths and weaknesses in each application, extracts skill details directly from CVs, and provides interview support by suggesting tailored questions and summarising candidates' competencies and areas for improvement.
Security and control
Sidekick is developed using Amazon's Bedrock platform in conjunction with Anthropic Claude for its AI infrastructure. The system operates under a framework designed for secure data handling, with Tribepad retaining control over data governance and access. The solution further leverages HrFlows' technology to automate HR data processing and generate candidate summaries, contributing another analytical layer to the application.
Initial customer trials suggest Sidekick performs strongly in predicting high-potential candidates, supporting recruiter confidence in both the fairness and precision of its assessments.
Role of human judgement
Tribepad emphasises that Sidekick is intended to supplement, not replace, human decision-making. The system highlights strengths and ensures applications are fully considered, but leaves final hiring decisions with recruitment professionals.
Armstrong said, "Sidekick will never reject a candidate. It is there to provide insight, consistency, and efficiency, giving recruiters more time to do what only humans can: build relationships, spot potential, and make the final call."
Industry investment
The company describes Sidekick as its most significant investment to date. The AI tool has been mapped to support each stage of the recruitment journey, with a focus on transparency and consistency. Sidekick's deployment is part of a broader move to address industry demands for fairness and operational efficiency, particularly as hiring volumes remain high across many sectors.
