TCL has launched its C7L-UK and C8L-UK SQD-Mini LED televisions in the UK. The models will be available in screen sizes from 55 inches to 98 inches.
Recommended prices range from GBP £1,099 to GBP £3,299 for the C7L-UK and from GBP £1,199 to GBP £3,999 for the C8L-UK. Both sit in TCL's premium television line-up and target buyers looking for larger screens and higher-end picture and audio features.
Both models use TCL's Super Quantum Dot display technology, which the company says improves colour accuracy by 69% compared with regular quantum dots. TCL also says the panels offer up to 33% better colour gamut and 100% coverage of the BT.2020 all-scenes wide colour gamut standard.
The televisions use Mini LED backlighting, with dimming zone counts varying by model. The C7L-UK offers up to 2,176 dimming zones, while the C8L-UK reaches up to 4,032, an increase on the previous generation.
Brightness is another key difference. TCL says the C7L-UK reaches up to 3,000 nits of peak HDR brightness, while the C8L-UK reaches up to 6,000 nits, though the figures vary by screen size.
Display features
Both televisions support HDR10+, HDR10, Dolby Vision IQ and IMAX Enhanced, with the aim of improving contrast, colour control and performance in scenes that mix bright and dark areas.
TCL's Deep Colour System is designed to reduce light bleed between darker and brighter parts of the picture, an issue often associated with Mini LED displays. The company says the sets also deliver contrast levels that approach OLED televisions.
For gaming and fast-moving sports, both televisions support a native 4K refresh rate of up to 144Hz. They can also reach up to 288Hz variable refresh rate when scaled to full HD using TCL Game Boost.
The models also include TCL's TSR AiPQ processor for AI upscaling and motion processing. This places the new sets in a market segment where manufacturers increasingly rely on image-processing software as well as panel technology to distinguish premium products.
Audio and design
TCL has fitted both models with Bang & Olufsen speakers in a 2.1 surround sound configuration with Dolby Atmos support. Audio quality has become a more prominent selling point as manufacturers try to reduce the need for separate soundbars in some living room set-ups.
The televisions also have slim designs with high screen-to-body ratios. The C8L-UK features TCL's ZeroBorder display design, which reduces the black space between the active picture area and the bezel.
Both series are available in 55-inch, 65-inch, 75-inch, 85-inch and 98-inch sizes. The broad range reflects continuing demand for larger televisions, a category in which TCL has expanded its presence in recent years.
Market position
TCL cited Omdia data showing it ranked first globally in Mini LED TV shipments in 2024 and 2025, with 3.954 million units shipped and a 31.1% market share. It also cited the same data showing it ranked first in global shipments of 75-inch-and-above televisions from 2023 to 2025, with 4.938 million units shipped and a 19.1% market share.
Omdia figures also showed TCL led global TV shipments featuring Google TV OS for five consecutive years from 2021 to 2025. The rankings highlight TCL's effort to compete more directly with larger established television brands by combining aggressive pricing with premium display formats.
The C7L-UK starts at GBP £1,099 for a 55-inch model, rising to GBP £1,299 for 65 inches, GBP £1,699 for 75 inches, GBP £2,299 for 85 inches and GBP £3,299 for 98 inches. The C8L-UK starts at GBP £1,199 for 55 inches, then GBP £1,899 for 65 inches, GBP £2,299 for 75 inches, GBP £2,999 for 85 inches and GBP £3,999 for 98 inches.
The pricing places both series in a competitive part of the UK television market, where brands are pushing Mini LED technology into screen sizes once dominated by more expensive OLED models.
