Snowflake, Anthropic expand USD $200m Claude AI deal

Fri, 12th Dec 2025

Snowflake has agreed a multi-year partnership expansion with Anthropic worth USD $200 million that deepens their work on enterprise artificial intelligence agents.

The deal extends access to Anthropic's Claude models through Snowflake's AI Data Cloud and introduces a joint global sales effort targeting large corporate customers.

Snowflake said more than 12,600 customers will gain broader access to Claude across the three major public cloud platforms.

Claude will also underpin Snowflake Intelligence, which is the company's own enterprise AI agent for internal and customer use.

The agreement builds on an existing relationship in which thousands of Snowflake customers already use Claude through Snowflake Cortex AI.

Snowflake said those customers process trillions of Claude tokens each month through its platform.

The new phase of the partnership focuses on AI agents that can run multi-step analysis within Snowflake.

These agents will use Claude's reasoning features and its handling of sensitive data.

Snowflake said this will support work across financial, operational, and customer datasets.

It said the agents will show their working rather than only returning final answers.

Both companies highlighted demand from regulated industries such as financial services, healthcare, and life sciences.

Snowflake said those sectors need AI that sits on top of governed data and meets internal compliance requirements.

The firms said the partnership will target customers that want to move AI projects out of pilot phases and into live production systems.

One example use case involves wealth management firms.

Snowflake said Snowflake Intelligence, running on Claude, can create an agent that combines client portfolios, market data and compliance rules inside its environment.

The agent then generates investment suggestions within Snowflake's security and governance perimeter.

Sridhar Ramaswamy, Chief Executive of Snowflake, said the scale of the deal reflects the depth of joint work with Anthropic.

"Snowflake's most strategic partnerships are measured not just in scale, but in the depth of innovation and customer value that we can create together," said Sridhar Ramaswamy, CEO, Snowflake. "Anthropic joins a very select group of partners where we have nine-figure alignment, co-innovation at the product level, and a proven track record of executing together for customers worldwide. Together, the combined power of Snowflake and Claude is raising the bar for how enterprises deploy scalable, context-aware AI on top of their most critical business data."

Anthropic framed the move as a way to let AI work directly on data that enterprises already store in Snowflake.

"Enterprises have spent years building secure, trusted data environments, and now they want AI that can work within those environments without compromise. This partnership brings Claude directly into Snowflake, where that data already lives. It's a meaningful step toward making frontier AI genuinely useful for businesses," said Dario Amodei, CEO and Co-founder, Anthropic.

Customer Intercom said it has already used Claude through Snowflake to automate more of its customer support operations.

"We leverage Anthropic's Claude models in Snowflake Cortex AI and this has transformed how we work with our customers to achieve increased Fin AI Agent automation rates for their support volume. Our engagements, especially with our biggest, most demanding customers, are holistically more efficient and more effective. We can do things we simply could not feasibly do before," said Dave Lynch, VP Engineering, Intercom. "We will continue to seek out places where we can build on strong security and governance foundations of the Snowflake platform to drive impact for our customers and revenue for Intercom."

Snowflake Intelligence

Snowflake is positioning Snowflake Intelligence, powered by Claude Sonnet 4.5, as an AI agent for business users.

The tool sits on top of structured and unstructured data inside Snowflake.

Users interact with it through natural language queries.

Snowflake said this product will let staff analyse and reason over corporate data without writing code.

The company is also offering access to Anthropic's newest Claude models through Snowflake Cortex AI Functions.

That includes Claude Opus 4.5.

Snowflake said customers can query tables, documents, images, audio and other formats while working in SQL.

Cortex Agents provide a way for customers to assemble custom AI agents that run on Snowflake data.

Snowflake said these agents use Claude models for retrieval and workflow orchestration.

The firm said customers can embed these agents into production systems.

Governance focus

Both companies are stressing governance and observability features as AI systems move closer to core business data.

Snowflake Horizon Catalog supplies policy controls, monitoring and responsible AI tools when customers run Anthropic models within Snowflake.

Snowflake said this framework supports audit, security and compliance requirements for AI projects.

Inside Snowflake, the company itself uses Claude Code for software engineering work.

It also runs an internal go-to-market AI assistant based on Snowflake Intelligence.

Snowflake said internal sales teams use the assistant to pull data into one place, ask questions in natural language and locate insights related to deals.

The two companies plan a joint go-to-market programme that targets global enterprises as they invest in AI agents that run on sensitive corporate data.
