Siemens unveils updates enhancing connectivity & safety

Today

Siemens Digital Industries has announced updates to its product offerings, focusing on enhancing connectivity and safety across various sectors.

The Sirius portfolio now includes the Sirius 3RC7 Intelligent Link Module, designed to improve IT/OT connectivity. The module facilitates real-time monitoring, diagnostics, and predictive maintenance by converting standard load feeders into smart, communication-enabled entities. This integration simplifies wiring and aims to boost operational efficiency.

Siemens has also unveiled the Sitop PDP6200, an IP65-rated power supply solution. With features such as Safe Torque Off (STO) and remote eFuse reset, the PDP6200 is engineered to enhance safety while reducing operational downtime.

Another significant update is the April 2025 release of Simatic PCS neo V6 for the water industry, featuring certified safety functions, flexible architectures, and comprehensive safety engineering tools. This update focuses on increasing safety and efficiency in water management processes through innovative templates, modules, and cybersecurity measures.

TÜV SÜD Level 3 certification under IEC 62443-4-1 has been extended to cover additional products in Siemens' Measurement Intelligence lineup. These products are touted for securely processing and integrating data into control systems such as Simatic PCS 7 and Simatic PCS Neo.

Siemens has introduced the Sitrans FM320 flowmeter to complement its range of flow measurement solutions. The device features an IP67 rating and supports various connectivity options. This flowmeter aims to streamline integration while enhancing diagnostic and verification processes.

The company also detailed advancements in the Simatic WinCC Unified system. TIA Portal Version 20 expedites engineering processes and promotes standardisation for scalable HMI applications, integrating with the Industrial Edge Ecosystem.

With the increased use of Autonomous Mobile Robots and Guided Vehicles, Siemens has rolled out Safe Velocity, a software solution for monitoring speed safely. This ensures compliance with safety standards and optimises energy use and design.

The new Security Event Log for industrial drives also addresses cybersecurity. This feature makes cybersecurity events tamper-proof by storing them using the Syslog protocol. This development aims to enhance early anomaly detection and post-incident analysis.

Another highlight is that Sinamics V20 now includes an integrated brake chopper for more frame sizes, eliminating the need for external modules while improving space and cost efficiency.
