Schneider Electric has been named the World's Most Sustainable Company 2026 by TIME Magazine and Statista, marking the third consecutive year it has received the ranking.

The ranking was based on an assessment of 5,000 of the world's largest and most influential companies. According to Schneider, the result reflects how deeply sustainability is embedded in its business strategy, governance, and performance.

The recognition comes as the group rolls out a new sustainability roadmap, Impact 2030. The framework is built around four pillars: electrifying the world, reinventing the industry, unlocking human potential, and empowering local communities.

Schneider tracks the plan through quarterly indicators designed to measure progress across its operations and wider ecosystem. In the first quarter, it reduced its Scope 1 and Scope 2 carbon dioxide emissions by 82.5% against a 2017 baseline.

The company also reported 47.5 million MWh of energy saved or electrified for customers in the quarter, helping save and avoid 20 million tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions over the same period.

Product design is another area of focus. Schneider said 14% of major offers in the design phase already meet its future-designed framework for circular and environmental standards.

Supply chain focus

The group is also seeking to extend its climate agenda through its suppliers. In the first quarter, more than 1,100 suppliers took part in Schneider's Zero Carbon Pathway initiative, which is intended to strengthen emissions accountability across the value chain.

The supplier programme sits alongside efforts focused on local communities and workforce development. During the quarter, more than 2.8 million people gained access to sustainable electricity through community-based solutions backed by the company.

Schneider also said 113,000 people were upskilled through education and training programmes linked to energy, electrification, and automation. That brought the cumulative number trained since 2009 to more than 1.2 million.

Executive response

Chief Executive Officer Olivier Blum commented on the latest ranking.

"Being recognized by TIME and Statista for the third year in a row is an honor. As energy becomes increasingly central to growth, competitiveness, and progress, the need to use it more intelligently continues to grow. We believe energy intelligence is a key enabler of both efficiency and decarbonization, helping our customers create lasting value while reducing emissions. That belief has shaped Schneider Electric for many years and continues to guide how we innovate, operate, and advance energy technology," Blum said.

Schneider also pointed to other sustainability rankings in which it has placed highly. It said it is the only company to have secured the top position in Corporate Knights' Global 100 ranking twice, in 2021 and 2025, and has appeared on the CDP Climate A List for 15 consecutive years.

Chief Sustainability Officer Esther Finidori also linked the latest result to the group's new sustainability cycle.

"As we embark on a new sustainability cycle with both ambition and humility, this third recognition gives us confidence that we are on the right path and a responsibility to go further. Impact 2030 provides the framework to scale our impact, and we look forward to accelerating progress quarter after quarter," Finidori said.
