Samp CEO urges industrial sector to adopt Shared Reality
The CEO of Samp is urging the industrial sector to reconsider its management of complex facilities, citing outdated systems as a barrier to advancements in cost, safety, and decarbonisation.
Laurent Bourgouin, CEO of Samp, advocates for the adoption of Shared Reality, an AI-powered 3D digital workspace designed to update obsolete practices in industrial operations. The Shared Reality solution can generate a digital twin of industrial sites by aligning 3D scans with existing, and often outdated, technical documentation.
This web-based, immersive tool integrates schematics, inventories, and engineering drawings into a cohesive model, which is accessible remotely. Shared Reality aims to improve safety and data integrity within industrial operations by facilitating remote collaboration and quicker decision-making.
"Too many teams are still relying on guesswork and outdated data to run critical infrastructure," said Bourgouin. "Shared Reality changes that. It gives you a clear, current, and complete view of your site within days, straight from the field. If you're not already using it, you're falling behind."
The Shared Reality solution from Samp has been deployed across hundreds of industrial sites in various sectors, showing notable improvements. It has reportedly reduced the costs of engineering studies by nearly a third, decreased on-site risk exposure and dangerous interventions by half, and minimised contract amendments by 60%.
Additionally, it has been associated with a five percent increase in plant uptime due to more rapid maintenance responses. At the same time, users have reported an 80% reduction in equipment inventory update time and associated costs.
Financially, customers have experienced significant benefits, averaging over €500,000 in capital expenditure (CAPEX) savings per site annually and a 15% reduction in ongoing operating expenses (OPEX).
"This is a wake-up call for the entire industry," Bourgouin concluded. "Information chaos has been accepted for too long. Now, with Shared Reality, there really is no excuse."
To encourage the transition to this solution, Samp offers current customers of traditional 3D virtual visit tools a complimentary switchover to the Shared Reality platform. This offer includes transforming outdated site data into an accurate model to expedite safer operations and decision-making processes.
