Pure Storage teams with Kioxia to enhance hyperscale data

Yesterday

Pure Storage has announced a collaboration with Kioxia Corporation to enhance scalability, efficiency, and performance in hyperscale data centres.

Traditional storage methods, such as hard disk drives (HDDs), face challenges in meeting the demands of hyperscale environments because of limitations in speed, scalability, reliability, and power consumption. These issues restrict their ability to manage the growing volumes of data without causing latency and bandwidth issues.

Pure Storage and Kioxia's new partnership aims to develop a data storage platform specifically for hyperscale conditions, enabling rapid scalability while reducing power usage and physical space requirements.

The integration of Pure Storage's data platform with Kioxia's QLC flash memory will allow hyperscalers to meet increasing data demands efficiently. The benefits are multiple, focusing on performance, cost, and sustainability.

The collaboration promises increased performance with ultra-fast, low-latency capabilities that can handle vast, data-intensive operations while ensuring high reliability. This will allow organisations to keep up with swift customer demand growth.

Cost efficiency will improve as storage costs are optimised, potentially lowering the total cost of ownership. This is achieved by minimising the need for extensive physical resources and enhancing scalability.

Moreover, the new platform will significantly reduce energy consumption compared to traditional HDDs. This reduction supports lower operational costs, a smaller physical footprint, and less hardware waste, making data centre operations more sustainable.

Bill Cerreta, General Manager of Hyperscale at Pure Storage, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration: "Collaborating with Kioxia allows Pure Storage to bring the full potential of all-flash storage technology to hyperscale environments. Pure has a decade of experience in delivering systems that manage flash for enterprise businesses. Now we're using those innovations, and Kioxia's latest technology, to enable the hyperscalers. Together, we're creating a solution that will empower these organisations to manage their data seamlessly, with speed and efficiency at the core."

Caesar Ichimura, Chief Marketing Officer at Kioxia Corporation, highlighted the milestone in storage evolution: "Our collaboration with Pure Storage marks an exciting milestone in the evolution of hyperscale storage. As data volumes continue to explode, we're committed to delivering a solution that combines high performance with lower operational costs. All-flash technology is the future of storage, and through this collaboration, we are driving the innovation needed to address the complexities of today's hyperscale environments."
