Philips unveils Ambilight TVs for hotels with gaming & AirPlay

Tue, 18th Nov 2025

PPDS has launched two new hospitality televisions under the Philips MediaSuite brand, expanding its offering to hotels and accommodation providers worldwide. The range, available globally and ready for deployment from 2026, includes the 6000 and 7000 Series, with enhancements in guest entertainment access and visual immersion technology.

Smart TV features

The new models will come equipped with integrated Google Cast and will be ready for Netflix. They continue to be Google-certified, allowing access to the full suite of Google Mobile Services. This enables hotel guests to securely log in and use thousands of applications on the Google Play Store, including streaming services, news, sports, games, and YouTube.

Compatibility with Apple AirPlay has also been added. This feature enables guests to wirelessly stream content from their Apple devices, such as iPhones and iPads, directly to the in-room TV. PPDS has assured that personal and login data is deleted immediately at checkout to support privacy and data security for guests.

Cloud gaming options

The televisions are also cloud gaming-ready, enabling hotel operators to offer guests access to gaming services through their personal subscriptions. Guests can play games directly via the TV without needing a console, using either their own compatible controller or one provided by the hotel. This development aligns with the growing popularity of online gaming, with the global gaming market estimated to be worth USD $27.97 billion in 2024 and over 83% user penetration according to industry sources.

Ambilight technology

The Philips MediaSuite 6000 Series introduces integrated Ambilight technology, which projects dynamic lighting from the rear of the TV onto nearby walls, matching the screen's colours and intensity in real time. This feature has been included to enhance visual engagement and the overall guest experience. Hotels can customise lighting settings to align with branding or room decor.

Units will be available in multiple sizes, ranging from 24" and 32" models intended for smaller rooms or cruise ship crew cabins to larger 43", 50", 55", 65", 75", and 85" screens for guest rooms and suites. The 24" and 32" versions support Full HD, while larger models offer 4K resolution.

Market focus

Philips MediaSuite televisions are already present in properties operated by major hotel chains, including Accor, IHG, Marriott, and Radisson, as well as on board cruise liners. The latest launch is designed to strengthen PPDS's position in the hospitality and leisure sectors by offering enhanced in-room entertainment options. The company highlights that Ambilight technology has been featured on more than 35 million Philips TVs sold since its introduction in 2004.

"The new Philips MediaSuite 6000 and 7000 Series indisputably make this our - and the industry's - most advanced and diverse range of dedicated hotel TVs yet. Our ambition is always to lead, never to follow. We've taken our time, taken feedback from partners and customers, and used our expertise in the hospitality industry to take this already market leading range of TVs to even greater levels, bringing greater value to hotels around the world," said Jeroen Verhaeghe, Global Director Product Strategy and Partnerships for Professional TV, PPDS.

"Philips MediaSuite with Ambilight transforms the viewing experience in a way no others can. It's something that must be experienced to be believed. Figures show that over 80% of consumers who own a Philips Ambilight TV would purchase one again when it's time to upgrade. With this new Series, hotel guests can experience the same benefits - and for those who don't already have an Ambilight TV, it will open a new experience and bring excellent returns," said Jan Van Hecke, Global Product Manager for Professional TV, PPDS.
