Opus 2 unveils AI Assist tools in winter platform release

Thu, 22nd Jan 2026

Opus 2 has launched a winter software release that begins integrating technology from its recent acquisition, Uncover, with Uncover AI features now incorporated into Opus 2 Cases.

The company said it completed the initial integration work within three months. It positioned the update as part of a multi-phase roadmap for adding Uncover's tools across its litigation products.

Opus 2 sells software and services used by law firms and dispute teams. Its platform covers case preparation and hearing management, and it also provides services for resolution proceedings.

AI Assist tools

The winter release adds a suite of tools under the Opus 2 AI Assist name. The company said these tools focus on question-and-answer workflows, drafting, and analysis inside Opus 2 Cases.

Matter Assist provides question-and-answer features tied to the content and data within a specific matter. Opus 2 said it also produces structured outputs for analysis and drafting based on that matter's content.

Document Assist runs question-and-answer and task outputs from one or more documents. The company said the tool can pull key facts into chronological order.

General Assist provides access to an all-purpose large language model within the Opus 2 environment. Opus 2 described it as suitable for non-matter research, drafting, and analysis.

The release also includes a Prompt Library and Builder. Opus 2 said users can reuse prompts for more consistent outputs.

The company said users can take documents surfaced in Matter Assist or Document Assist and add them to Worksheets and Collections. Opus 2 said that it fits with existing workflows and connects documents to issues, events, entities, and evidence.

Opus 2 also said users can translate outputs into multiple languages. It positioned the feature for teams working across jurisdictions and languages.

Interface changes

The update adds a choice of views for users in Opus 2 Cases. Opus 2 said users can switch between a Detailed View based on the existing Opus 2 interface and a Focused View based on an Uncover-style design.

Opus 2 said the views operate within the same collaborative workspace and align analysis and output in one environment.

Customer expectations

Opus 2 said law firms have increased their focus on AI features in dispute work and trial preparation. The company described the winter release as a response to that demand and as the first delivery milestone of the Uncover integration plan.

"Law firms have made their expectations clear. They want to see accelerated AI innovation from the platforms they depend on," said Greg Blackman, Chief Executive Officer, Opus 2.

"We're committed to exceeding those expectations. I'm thrilled to share that we're delivering award-winning AI capabilities from Uncover, just a few months after the start of our integration," said Blackman.

Opus 2 also framed the integration as a combination of Uncover's AI approach with Opus 2's dispute workflow products.

"We're redefining what it means for AI to work in litigation, arbitration, and beyond," said Tiama Hanson-Drury, Chief Product and Technology Officer, Opus 2.

"Uncover brings speed and intelligence. Opus 2 brings structure and security. Together, they help lawyers move from insight to action-amplifying expertise for better firm and client outcomes," said Hanson-Drury.

Roadmap phases

Opus 2 said the winter release represents the first phase of a broader integration roadmap. It said the next phase is planned for spring 2026.

The company outlined future features that apply Uncover's context-aware AI within hearings. Opus 2 said the planned tools will surface insights during hearings, connect hearing transcripts to core case issues, and flag inconsistencies as they happen in court.

Opus 2 said existing Opus 2 Hearings customers can join a beta programme for early access to these hearing-related features.

Engineering work

Alongside the AI features, Opus 2 said the winter release includes broader platform enhancements. It highlighted recent work on platform architecture and engineering operations.

The company said those investments will increase the pace of releases and ensure deliveries remain secure and uninterrupted. The next set of Uncover integration deliverables is scheduled for spring 2026.
