Educake has announced the appointment of Nicola Allen as the new Managing Director, aiming to increase the use of its online assessment technology in schools.

Nicolas Allen steps into the role following her tenure as Head of Sales and Marketing at Educake, where she contributed significantly to the company's growth and its broadening adoption in UK schools and beyond. Educake has positioned itself as a vital tool for educators, offering a vast array of over 100,000 auto-marked, curriculum-linked questions across core subjects such as maths, English, and science. Aimed at alleviating the workload of teachers, the platform is deployed by more than 1,300 secondary schools, serving in excess of half a million students monthly through its low-stakes quizzes.

Nicola Allen expressed her excitement about her new role, stating, "I am thrilled to lead Educake at such a pivotal time in its journey. With more and more teachers considering walking away from the profession due to high workload levels, our platform is designed to help teachers save crucial admin time when setting and marking homework, allowing them to focus on teaching and supporting pupils - armed with data-driven insights provided by Educake's analysis tool. I am passionate about ensuring that Educake continues to empower educators and make a real difference in classrooms around the world."

Educake's achievements were recognised in 2023 when it was awarded a Bett Award for 'Assessment, Planning and Progress Monitoring'. Additionally, the same year marked the company becoming part of the Twinkl Group, supporting its aim to expand both within the UK and on an international scale.

Jonathan Seaton, Co-Founder and CEO of the Twinkl Group, commented on Nicola Allen's appointment, "We are incredibly excited about Nicola's vision for Educake. Her deep understanding of the education sector and commitment to solving educator challenges will ensure Educake continues to grow and thrive. Under her leadership, Educake will be able to support even more teachers globally, helping to create a brighter future for learners everywhere."

Recently, Educake has expanded its technological capability through its integration with the school software system Wonde. This development enhances the compatibility of Educake with the IT infrastructure existing in many schools, thereby allowing for improved accessibility for educators.

Looking ahead, Educake plans to further develop its analysis tool within the course of 2025. The goal is to provide teachers with detailed insights into class performance, thereby identifying areas where students may require further assistance, particularly as exam periods approach.
