NHS Humber rolls out automation to save 26,000 staff hours yearly
e18 Innovation, a subsidiary of Digital Workforce Services, has formed a partnership with NHS Humber Health Partnership to introduce an outpatient automation programme across two major NHS Trusts in the Humber region. The project aims to alleviate administrative burdens for NHS staff and is designed to free over 26,000 hours of staff time annually while generating cost savings over three years.
Programmeme details
NHS Humber Health Partnership comprises Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust and Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust, catering to a population of 1.5 million. The partnership will focus on automating five administrative processes within outpatient services across both Trusts. The technology enabling this transition will be delivered through UiPath's automation platform and managed by Digital Workforce's 'Outsmart Go' multi-vendor cloud system.
Operational impact
The intention behind this automation programme is to reduce the workload associated with manual administrative tasks. By streamlining processes, NHS staff are expected to spend more time on direct patient care, while the Trusts will benefit from operational efficiencies and financial gains distributed over the contract period. The platform will offer cloud-based, fully managed services to support deployment and maintenance of these automated processes.
Partnership collaboration
"We're thrilled to be working with Humber Health Partnership on a programme that showcases the real, measurable value of automation in the NHS. HHP is a huge organisation, and we are excited to start delivering organisational transformation that improves patient care, delivers cash-releasing savings, and releases staff time for the group," said Louise Wall, Managing Director, e18 Innovation.
Platform and technology
The 'Outsmart Go' platform, which will host the automations, offers NHS organisations an enterprise-grade, cloud-based environment. The partnership with UiPath, as the technology provider, aims to deliver scalable and reliable automation solutions that align with NHS requirements. UiPath's software is being implemented to modernise operational workflows and ensure long-term sustainability for the NHSS's digital transformation objectives.
"We are delighted to be welcoming another NHS customer into our community, and onto our 'Outsmart Go' platform - which gives NHS organisations access to an enterprise-grade, multi-vendor, fully managed cloud environment. We are also grateful to our longstanding technology partner, UiPath, for their support on this engagement, and look forward to jointly delivering value at scale," said Jussi Vasama, CEO, Digital Workforce Services.
"We're proud to be supporting the partnership between Humber Health Partnership and e18 Innovation, and are delighted to have been chosen as the technology provider that will underpin this programme. UiPath's automation technology delivers the scalability and reliability needed to help NHS organisations modernise their operations, while e18's deep NHS expertise will ensure the automations in-scope for this programme are implemented effectively and deliver real impact," said Matt Hogarth, Director, Healthcare UK&I, UiPath.
