Marcura acquires UK firm to expand demurrage claim tech
Marcura has announced its acquisition of the UK-based firm HubSE, which is known for its expertise in automating demurrage claims for oil and chemical tankers. This move extends Marcura's capabilities across all cargo types.
Marcura will integrate HubSE's specialised knowledge into its Marcura Claims platform, previously known as ClaimsHub. This combination offers a unified solution that caters to managed and self-service claims management for shipowners and charterers.
Henrik Hyldahn, Group CEO of Marcura, commented, "Managing demurrage claims has often meant juggling different tools, processes, and providers depending on the cargo. Bringing HubSE into the Marcura ecosystem changes that. For the first time, shipowners and charterers have a single solution that covers all major commodity types. This is about giving them confidence that, no matter the variables in play, the claims process is not something they're going to have to worry about."
HubSE, established in 2009, has distinguished itself in handling the intricate challenges associated with tanker demurrage claims, particularly the complexities and variabilities involved in contracts and cargo. Its technology is highly regarded within the maritime sector as an optimal standard for reclaiming costs in specialised domains.
Tim Bridges, Co-Founder of HubSE, said, "Joining Marcura marks the next evolution for HubSE's technology. Our customers will see benefits we could only have imagined before."
This acquisition builds on Marcura's recent strategic rebranding and reflects its vision for a more integrated maritime industry noted for its connectivity, which supports efficient, sustainable, and profitable global trade. A focal point of Marcura's approach is the integration of data and automation, along with AI-driven insights that empower customers to work more intelligently, act swiftly, and adapt in a regulatory environment that continues to grow in complexity.
