Life360 partners with Hubble to launch global tracking network
Life360, a leading family connection and safety company, has entered a strategic partnership with Hubble Network to launch "Find with Life360", a global location-tracking network. The proposed collaboration will implement Hubble's groundbreaking satellite Bluetooth technology into Life360's network of more than 66 million smartphone users, a move that could potentially outshine the capabilities of tech giants Apple and Google in the realm of location tracking.
The innovative "Find with Life360" network will integrate Life360's newest Tile Bluetooth trackers, equipped to locate and recover items globally without any need for cellular connectivity. This network, composed of Life360 and Hubble, will enable users to keep track of their essential items, whether indoor or outdoor, regardless of their location on the planet. Compatible with the upcoming Tile Pro and Tile Slim devices launching in late 2024, the system strives to upturn potential misplacement ordeals into minor inconveniences.
At the core of this technological leap is Hubble's pioneering ground-to-orbit technology. It can stretch a Bluetooth device's range from a few feet to hundreds of miles. Hubble's technology has been proven through the successful launches of two satellites, which host live beta devices on its network. Once launch dates are approved, a full constellation of 96 satellites is planned to be in orbit by 2028. This will provide global connectivity irrespective of cellular reception.
The "Find with Life360" network is also poised to provide API access to developers, allowing them to integrate any item onto its map effortlessly. Life360 has articulated its ambition to become a universal location service for all indispensable tools, enhancing its commitment to improving everyday family life for its members. The network also aims to prioritise developer-friendly functionality, providing easy integration and giving developers the freedom to customise location tracking experiences.
Another distinctive feature of "Find with Life360" is its focus on user control, particularly in theft protection. Unlike competitor networks, which often inundate users with anti-stalking notifications, "Find with Life360" gives users the option to opt out of such intrusive alerts. By attempting to strike a balance between effective tracking and user privacy, Life360 seems to be offering a pragmatic solution to potential theft scenarios.
Discussing the partnership, Chris Hulls, CEO and founder of Life360, stated, "We believe the collaboration between Life360 and Hubble Network marks a pivotal moment in the evolution of location tracking technology. We're providing consumers unprecedented access to global location tracking, ushering in a new era of peace of mind and security." He emphasised the commitment to empower users and developers with flexible privacy options and seamless integration, thereby distinguishing their product from other offerings.
Alex Haro, CEO of Hubble Network and Co-Founder of Life360, echoed Hulls and expressed the importance of the collaboration. He said, "Choosing Life360 as the exclusive consumer-side platform reflects our shared vision of integrating location awareness into everything. This collaboration embodies our commitment to redefine connectivity in our ever-connected world."
