Hitachi Vantara launches transformative hybrid cloud platform

Wed, 17th Apr 2024

Hitachi Vantara has launched the Hitachi Virtual Storage Platform One, a hybrid cloud platform designed to transform data management and leverage resources within organisations. With an emphasis on a resilient data foundation, Platform One aims to ensure data availability and offer strong resiliency and reliability measures, such as overcoming risks of inefficient productivity, downtime, and possible security threats.

Data management is an increasing challenge for businesses due to the rapid spread of AI, cloud technologies, and exponential data growth. Despite the recognition of data's value by 71% of IT experts, only 19% note a robust data management strategy within their organisations, according to a recent TDWI Data Management Maturity Assessment. Furthermore, rising cyber threats contribute to a growing worry amongst 68% of IT leaders regarding the resilience of their organisation's data infrastructure.

The Hitachi Virtual Storage Platform One products available include the Virtual Storage Platform One SDS Block, Virtual Storage Platform One SDS Cloud, and the Virtual Storage Platform One File. All these products support mission-critical applications by simplifying infrastructure and promise to revolutionise the storage landscape by unifying data and effortlessly adapting to on-premises, cloud, or software-defined environments. They also ensure robust risk mitigation measures and reliability.

Octavian Tanase, Chief Product Officer at Hitachi Vantara, underlines the platform's transformational aspect, explaining, "Virtual Storage Platform One is built with resiliency in mind, guaranteeing 100% data availability, modern storage assurance, and effective capacity across all its solutions. It provides organisations with simplicity at scale and an unbreakable data foundation for hybrid cloud."

Besides eliminating the constraints of data silos, Virtual Storage Platform One enables every piece of information to work cohesively and with the flexibility to scale up or down effortlessly. This functionality prioritises efficiency and speed, and the Virtual Storage Platform One SDS Cloud addition to the AWS Marketplace allows businesses to smoothly integrate and make the most of Hitachi Vantara's advanced data management solutions within AWS services.

Built on the Hitachi Storage Virtualization Operating System (SVOS), Virtual Storage Platform One offers a unified data ecosystem that seamlessly integrates block and file storage. This approach prevents data fragmentation, making data accessible from any device or location and easier to manage, boosting businesses' performance. Deniz Armen Aydin, the Cloud Data Storage Technologies Manager at Garanti BBVA, expressed anticipation for the new platform, recognising its potential to revolutionise data management and efficiency within GarantiBBVA.

The platform distinguishes itself with key differentiating attributes that redefine data management. These include one data plane extending the storage portfolio into the public cloud with the Virtual Storage Platform One SDS Cloud running natively on AWS, simple consumption to automate the Virtual Storage Platform One SDS Block and Cloud with Ansible playbooks, cloud observability providing users with insights into their entire portfolio in one dashboard, and accelerated file storage. These features promise an advanced, flawless user experience and greater business efficiency. Future additions to Virtual Storage Platform One products will be available later in the year.
