Flashscore named UK's fastest sports results platform

Flashscore has been ranked the fastest sports results platform by UK fans. A survey of 2,000 people in the UK found that 46% identified the app as the quickest.

The research found similar results in Italy and Brazil, where 49% of 2,000 respondents in Italy and 53% of 3,300 participants in Brazil named Flashscore as the fastest platform for sports results.

Users in all three markets also rated the platform highly for reliability. In Italy, where the service operates as Diretta, respondents considered it more accurate than competitors and national broadcasters' platforms. In the UK and Brazil, users rated it equal to or close to competing services and broadcasters' platforms.

The findings come during a period of growth for the Czech sports information company. Its flagship product now attracts more than 125 million monthly users worldwide and 145 billion monthly impressions. Across its wider portfolio, the business has reported more than 400 million app downloads.

In the UK alone, the Flashscore app has been downloaded more than four million times. It generates more than two billion monthly impressions in the country, with users spending close to 30 minutes a day on average in the app.

Scale and speed

Flashscore is the flagship product of Livesport, a Prague-based technology company founded in 2006. The business has expanded from live scores into a broader sports information group through acquisitions including BeSoccer, Soccerway and Tribal Football, reaching a combined audience of more than 155 million monthly active users.

Its approach has centred on delivering sports data in milliseconds, guided by an internal benchmark of being "faster than the TV". That focus has shaped investment in its data infrastructure over two decades.

Last year, the group moved to a new data centre in Prague, which tripled processing capacity. It also uses a distributed cloud architecture designed to keep data delivery close to users in different regions.

The system is intended to help the platform handle sharp surges in demand during major sporting events. During a Champions League matchday earlier this season, the platform handled 34 million users in a single day, sent 700 million notifications and processed up to 1.3 million requests per second.

Tomáš Kavka, Director of Engineering at Flashscore, outlined how the company approaches those demands.

"It is not one magic technology that solves everything, it is a lot of small and larger right decisions over time. Serving a user in South America from Europe is technically possible, but speed is in our DNA. If we want to be the fastest on every continent, we need to be as close as possible to the user. And the data needs to reach that location the moment it appears in our database," Kavka said.

The survey underlines how heavily sports audiences now rely on live data services alongside traditional broadcasts, particularly when they expect updates to appear almost instantly. For companies in the segment, speed and reliability have become central measures of performance rather than secondary product features.
